I Am What I Am

Don't hate me but getting caught in the traffic jam is really not all that bad. At least, you get to listen to some good music. I'm not sure what programme it is around the time I am on the road but this evening's selection had numbers by Take That, Roxette and this other lady who sang a very catchy number, one I have heard a number of times but had no clue what song that was.

You've got to love YouTube. It's Gloria Gaynor and the song is I Am What I Am. Not sure if hers is the original version but it's the best version IMO. If you need a little uplifting in the self-esteem department, this is it. I should probably make this my theme song. Yeah! *singing* I Am What I Am, And what I am needs no excuses. I deal my own deck, sometimes the ace sometimes the deuces.....

This would be a great number for your high-impact aerobics to work up a good sweat and get that cardio-vascular workout. Great for dancing too.

Btw, lyrics included below for singing along. Learn it up for your next karaoke session. Eh?

Ready? Hit it! (Gloria Gaynor's version, vocals only:)

And this version by Karen Mulder is not bad and with great theatrics. Check it out too.

I AM WHAT I AM
I am what I am
I am my own special creation
So come take a look
Give me the hook or the ovation
It's my world
That I want to have a little pride in
My world
And it's not a place I have to hide in
Life's not worth a damn
Till you can say
I am what I am

I am what I am
I don't want praise I don't want pity
I bang my own drum
Some think it's noise I think it's pretty
And so what if I love each sparkle and each bangle
Why not try to see things from a different angle
Your life is a sham
Till you can shout out
I am what I am

I am what I am
And what I am needs no excuses
I deal my own deck
Sometimes the ace sometimes the deuces
It's one life and there's no return and no deposit
One life so it's time to open up your closet
Life's not worth a damn till you can shout out
I am what I am

I am what I am

I am what I am
And what I am needs no excuses
I deal my own deck sometimes the ace sometimes the deuces
It's one life and there's no return and no deposit
One life so it's time to open up your closet
Life's not worth a damn till you can shout out
I am what I am

Oh I am
Oh I am
I am, I am, I am good
I am, I am, I am strong
I am, I am, I am worthy
I am, I am, I belong

I am

I am

Ooh ooh ooh ooh I am

I am, I am, I am useful
I am, I am, I am true
I am, I am somebody
I am as good as you, ah ha
Ah ha, ooh ooh ooh ooh yes I am
Ah ah ah ah

Doo doo doo doo I am
I am, I am, I am

  4. Tekkaus, absolutely! Taking a different route (in anything) can provide a different, maybe better, perspective. Eh?

LB, aww..so sweet! I'm sure KL misses you too.

MBL, yeah, music makes the world go round. Or is it love? If so, gotta find me some. ;)

  5. People who don't mind getting stuck in traffic jams are those who drive big, comfortable, expensive luxury cars. Are you driving a Lexus LS600h? :p

  6. LOL! MB, you mean that full hybrid V8 powertrain with an output of 430 horsepower? It's a good consideration though as the LS600h is rated a "Super Low Emissions" vehicle estimated to produce just 20% of the smog-forming emissions of a conventional five-litre V8.

I think Malaysia is not quite ready for such a hybrid car.

Yeah, my Continental vehicle is comfortable, alright. ;)

  9. I'm about to blog about traffic jams and then saw your post! I was irritated with the jams during the ramadan month, and was relieved during the Raya holidays only to get irritated again today! Well, what to do but listen to the radio or CDs during the jam? I also take the oppportunity to practise my singing for my next karaoke visit! : )

  10. Good on you for being able to be happy during a time when most people would be otherwise. Smart le! :D

Man, I wish I could afford a car here - even though I suck at driving :p

  12. Z, yeah, jams are bad news for everyone. I get migraines sometimes going thru them. Arghh!!

Foong, which reminds me, I'm due for some serious karaokeing too.

    Furkids, no choice, le.

MB, let's change the subject, shall we?
