Video of the Month - Hotel California

Good morning, or whatever time it is at where you are.

Having music while you work is nice, isn't it? I have just included a music video for additional entertainment while you visit. Initially, I thought I'd show a new video weekly but now it probably is a better idea to have it for a whole month considering the positive response received for this maiden effort.

Therefore this will be the Video of the Month for November. Yes, it's "Hotel California", a live version from The Eagles. This is actually my all-time favourite song and, it's also my all-time favourite karaoke song. I kid you not! On the first listen, it appeared to be a tough song to sing but it really is not. Why don't you give it a try. I have the lyrics below to help you along. So volume up and sing it, baby!

Hotel California
On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell'
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year, you can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain,
'Please bring me my wine'
He said,'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device'
And in the master's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
'Relax,'said the night man,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
but you can never leave

Children - A Source of Beauty

There are too many unpleasant things in the world. Thank goodness for children. They make up a big portion of the beauty in this world.

We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today.

Children are one third of our population and all of our future.

You are worried about seeing him spend his early years in doing nothing. What! Is it nothing to be happy? Nothing to skip, play, and run around all day long? Never in his life will he be so busy again.

Children are unpredictable. You never know what inconsistency they're going to catch you in next.

Never fear spoiling children by making them too happy. Happiness is the atmosphere in which all good affections grow.

We cannot fashion our children after our desires, we must have them and love them as God has given them to us.

What Color Green Are You?

Here is another post on colors. A few posts earlier, Pink was the color (for Breast Cancer Awareness), the previous post on a colorful world and now this one on the color Green. Be forewarned, this quiz says I am a little offbeat and quirky! What about you? What color Green are you?

You Are Teal Green

You are a one of a kind, original person. There's no one even close to being like you.

Expressive and creative, you have a knack for making the impossible possible.

While you are a bit offbeat, you don't scare people away with your quirks.

Your warm personality nicely counteracts any strange habits you may have.

Colour My World

It has often been said that time flies when one is having a good time. I guess there must be some truth in it as it is Friday again. This has been a good week though a short one due to the public holidays. An email I received added more colour to my world. It provided a sort of a colour-rush from the loveliness and beauty of the world around us. It even reminded me how lucky I am to be alive and endowed with the gift of sight and how we do take sight for granted.

Would you have enjoyed the following pictures if you were sight-impaired or see things in just black and white or even if you are colour-blind?

Cherry Blossoms in Japan

Tundra

The beauty of Antarctica

The rolling hills of Tibet / Golden Maple Leaves

Edge of a Glacier

Lavender fields

Comet (Make a wish)

The Purple Romance

The Mystical Desert

Source of pictures unknown

The email said:

You only pass this way once...
I've never before seen so much beauty contained in one e-mail.
Pass this on to put a smile on someone's face... (I hope I just did.)

Have a Wonderful, Colourful weekend.

Blue Skies Again

Blue skies are back again and I hope they are here to stay. Bright sunshine and blue skies greeted me this morning. The smell of fresh air is a luxury which we took for granted and which has eluded most Malaysians for the past few weeks due to the haze. I am just hoping that it will be here to stay.

What a sight!

What a beautiful sight.

Look at the sun. Doesn't it look like a ball of fire?

The sky was actually this blue. This picture and the one following were taken from the side window while the earlier ones were taken from the front windscreen which is a wee bit more tinted.

After so long, we could finally see trees casting shadows. Notice the road devoid of traffic. This is because most people are still outstation celebrating the Aidil Fitri, the Moslem New Year. Traffic will get back to normal come Monday.
