The Star today carries an article on a free food outlet called the Soup Kitchen opening soon in Jinjang, Kuala Lumpur. An outlet serving free food must be a first in Malaysia. Apparently, this food outlet has been operating for three years now in Alor Star and the people responsible have decided to open a branch here in Kuala Lumpur.
The article says everyone is welcome at the outlet, i.e., the needy sector of society. The body responsible for this kindness is Fungates Superflow Foundation. (Bless them.) More outlets are in the pipeline especially in the Klang Valley to cater to the urban poor, according to Clarine Chun, its director. All food served will be pork- and beef-free.
The Opening ceremony is scheduled to be on Christmas Day and operations will begin on January 15. Renovation to provide a cafe ambience is underway with funds donated by CIMB Bank. Pacific West also regularly donates frozen food. They welcome any raw material especially vegetables. For information, you can contact Angeline of Fungates at 03-798 388 27.
Awesome!
