KL Tower is one of Top 10 Landmarks in Malaysia - Tripadvisor

KL Tower is currently hosting the 2013 KL Tower International BASE Jump event in which a hundred BASE jumpers have signed up for this extreme sport held annually. This is the only time visitors are allowed onto the deck to experience the thrill of being on top of the world, sort of.

KL Tower is used for communication purposes and features an antenna that reaches 421 metres (1,381 feet).

This year's BASE Jump event started on Friday, Sep 27 and will end tomorrow, Monday, Sep 30 (morning day jumps only). 4 day jumps and 3 night jumps have been slated for this year.

Miss Philippines Megan Young is Miss World 2013

Miss Philippines Megan Young has been crowned Miss World 2013 in a glittering finale last night on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, amid tight security following weeks of hardline Muslim protests.. Miss Young beat five other finalists, including France and Brazil, to win the coveted title in a contest broadcast to more than 180 countries worldwide.

The new Miss World pledged to "just be myself in everything I do, to share what I know and to educate people". She is the first ever Philippines Miss World. She took over the crown from last year's winner, China's Yu Wenxia.

House of the Virgin Mary in Turkey

History has always fascinated me. Here's a bit of history that could be fascinating to you as well. It's the house that the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ, used to live after His crucifixion in Calvary.

WHEN Jesus was on the cross at Calvary, he turned to his youngest Apostle and asked him to look after his mother Mary, the Bible says. But the book remains largely silent about what happened to her after that.

It is believed, however, that John the Evangelist, as the Apostle came to be known, quietly spirited her away to what is modern-day Turkey.

High on a hill slope outside the town of Ephesus he built her a simple stone house where she stayed secretly. Those were dangerous times for Christians. The Romans held Ephesus and they were responsible for crucifying Jesus.

15 years ago, what started as a research project for two PhD students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, has turned out to be currently the world's most visited website, making its founders multi-billionaires.

Google celebrates its 15th birthday with an interactive doodle on its homepage allowing the user to break a star-shaped birthday pinata.

2013 KL Tower International BASE Jump

If you are in Kuala Lumpur this weekend starting today and visiting the KL Tower is on your itinerary, you would be in for a bonus! You would be able to catch this year's KL Tower International BASE Jump that will be taking place the next four days, starting today.

Last year's event saw 91 BASE jumpers from 17 countries completed over 2200 BASE jumps during the event. This year's event will see 100 jumpers over 4 days and 3 nights launching their jumps from the 421m KL Tower located at Bukit Nanas, downtown Kuala Lumpur.

BASE jumping, also sometimes written as B.A.S.E. jumping, is an activity where participants jump from fixed objects and use a parachute to break their fall. "BASE" is an acronym that stands for four categories of fixed objects from which one can jump: Buildings, Antennas, Spans (bridges), and Earth (cliffs).

Samsung pays Apple $1 Billion in 5-cent coins

Sometime ago, I read about an upset bank customer banking in a large sum of money but in a small denomination, enough to create a hassle for the bank counting the entire amount. Today, someone or rather another party has beat that feat.

Samsung paid Apple $1 billion in 5-cent coins for the fine recently ruled against the South Korean company. 30 trucks arrived at Apple headquarters with the cash.

This happened two days ago (Sep 23).

Initially, the security company that protects the facility said the trucks were in the wrong place, but minutes later, Tim Cook (Apple CEO) received a call from Samsung CEO explaining that they will pay $1 billion dollars for the fine recently ruled against the South Korean company in this way.

The funny part is that the signed document does not specify a single payment method, so Samsung is entitled to send the creators of the iPhone their billion dollars in the way they deem best.
