This is a nice little poem that I could use for a reminder.
Outside my window, a new day I see,
and only I can determine what kind of day it will be.
It can be busy and sunny, laughing and gay,
or boring and cold, unhappy and grey.
My own state of mind is the determining key,
for I am only the person I let myself be.
I can be thoughtful and do all I can to help,
or be selfish and think just of myself.
I can enjoy what I do and make it seem fun,
or gripe and complain and make it hard on someone.
I can be patient with those who may not understand,
or belittle and hurt them as much as I can.
But I have faith in myself, and believe what I say,
I personally intend to make the best of each day.

That was lovely. Whose poem is it?
ReplyDeleteHow about a word verification poem (limerick)?
Complaining is what you do best.
Quit bugging me; give me some rest!
None feels any strife
If he just gets a life,
Forget it all; don't be a pest!
MM, wish I knew so that I could give credit to the author.
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice limerick. Clever, actually.
Haha! how best you know her!
Fresh out of ideas to pamper?
Knowing what's best
Would surely give you rest
'Xcuse her, dear, she's hard to turn over
That felt so nice. Then godzilla stepped on my house.

A pair of flowers white,
ReplyDeletePetal following petal five in all,
Assembled to look lovely at first sight,
Matters not if petal by petal later they fall.
So begin each morn looking right,
Learn step by step, we crawl to walk tall,
Be polite, prim and proper till eventide or night,
To have everyone about us be pleasantly enthralled.
Lovely, Joe. I'm pleasantly enthralled. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteCan't poem back today, so I'll just send you all the best wishes for a great week... and an even better weekend! HUGS
ReplyDeleteAlways say that and want to do
ReplyDeleteIt's just so true
But we can't seem to do it
Off and on we lose ourself to the devil of self hate rather than self love

ReplyDeleteZ, take it easy on yourself, okay? Charity begins at home afterall.
PC, thanks though the credit should go to the author really, whose works could probably fill a hall.
I'm enjoying all the poetry popping up in this comment thread, too! maybe we've started a good thing!
ReplyDelete(Oh, no...my word verification has eight letters....oh, what the heck!)
Nice it was to hear your words
So smooth and soft, so flowing,
Yearning for the spark they bring,
Joy's light now gently glowing.
Wash away the cares of life,
Massage away the ache.
Enjoy with me the brighter side
Nobody else can make.
MM, you're right. I too am enjoying the poetry on this thread and I have you to thank for for getting the ball rolling.
ReplyDeleteI got five letters, let's see..
Pleasantly starting this morning
On looking forward to your writing
Day's ending, I am tired
Spirits of mine, they are not fired
Quietly into the night, another day closing
