Keep warm in Genting Highlands

Did you know that redwood trees can grow to a height of 450ft? I wonder what's it like to be on top of one of those giants. Also, I wonder is it cold up there?

Talk about cold, if you're planning a trip to Genting Highlands and staying in one of those apartments, you may want to bring some warm clothing because nights are really cold due to the altitude and the mist and there's no heater in the apartment, let alone an infrared heater. Also, it can be a long cold walk to and from the indoor amusement park or casino or rather where the action is. So, be warned about keeping warm up in Genting Highlands.

  4. I love Genting. Go there on a pilgrimmage every few months. =p

And everytime I'm there, I spend a day in KL. And I do wonder sometimes, maybe I should meet up with all my KL blogging friends. ^_^

I don't enjoy Genting like most people do. Haven't been there for ages but I am not planning a visit anytime soon.

  7. Lina, Bananaz, true, more development has increased the temperature up in Gentings though it still depends on the time of day you are up there at Gentings and whether the sun is shining. It can be quite cold when it's windy or when night falls. It's always advisable to have a sweater or a jacket available just in case.

  8. Tekkaus, time for a visit then. You'd be surprised at the changes.

Shingo, I love Genting too. I like it because of the touristy feel of the place. Everyone who is there is on a holiday, no rushing around to catch a bus or a train to work or something. There's lots to do or nothing at all but just taking it easy sipping coffee at the cafe reading a book or leafing thru a magazine or whatever.. Lovely place to unwind. The casino, of course, is very exhilarating even if one doesn't gamble. What a place Genting is.

Yes, a chance to meet up with KL bloggers when you're here depending on whether you can spare the time because your day may be packed with places to visit and shopping to do.

  9. Mei Teng, awww... you don't enjoy Gentings? Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

SK, true, development has increased the overall temperature up there but on the other hand, it may be a good thing as it has become more comfortable to walk out in the open without having to be dressed like in Winter. Like I mentioned above, it is still a good idea to have a sweater or a jacket available just in case the temperature changes - especially for small children and the elderly.

  10. I'm still wondering about the height of those giants- 450 ft! Is it true? If so then I'm also interested to be on top of them. It would be too cold on such altitude and hence warm clothes are essential.

  11. Found your blog as I was searching for stories about trip to Genting Island. Planning for a trip this coming December with my husband and two kids. I want to ask if its too rainy on December there? Or would it be two crowded too? Would love to hear from you! Thanks in advance.

  12. Vegas, yeah, that's what the documentary said, 450ft though not all of the redwood trees grow to that height. The thought of being on top of one does remind you of the vampire move, Twilight, doesn't it? Remember the scene where they both climb up the tree though it's not a redwood but a pine tree? Fantastic CG there!

  13. Hi Jody, thanks for stopping by and welcome to Malaysia.

Genting Highland is not to be missed when you visit Kuala Lumpur. December is as good a month as any to visit Genting because it opens every day of the year though December is festive (with Christmas decorations and all) and can be a little busy due to the school holidays but is not a problem. Make your reservations early to avoid disappointment.

No issue with the rain at Genting as there is enough action indoors to keep everyone happy - indoor amusement park, heated swimming pool if you're a guest of the hotel, bowling, shopping, restaurants, internet cafe, karaoke, drinking holes, more shopping. etc. And there's the casino, of course.

Weather permitting, your kids will love the outdoor amusement park too. Be advised to wear comfortable shoes because the Genting complex is sprawling and not called 'City of Entertainment' for nothing. Also, do bring along a jacket or a sweater in case the weather takes a turn. A collapsible umbrella may come in handy too. And lastly, have a wonderful holiday visiting with us and good luck at the casino!
