Sandstorms in Dubai

As a follow-up from the previous post, this is a forwarded email on sandstorms in Dubai. We know Dubai for the most expensive hotel in the world (the Burj Al Arab), the Palm properties, the great shopping, but sandstorms?

"See the kind of sand storm that occurs in Dubai!!!! By the way these buildings that u can see are all more than 50 floors high !!! Its a baaaaaaaaaad time if its stormy here! No one is supposed to get out of house...and if u r driving while this occurs then God help u....u shld stop the car immediately no matter where and at what speed u r....as a rule every car should stop but becos some fools dont do that there are major accidents that occur during these storms.."

  1. Yeah, we often see all these amazing sandstorms in the dessert in the movies!! So this is what it looked like not in a movie!

  2. I read that sandstorms do change the landscape in the desert thus one can easily get lost in the desert as natural landmarks do not stay the same all the time.

  3. It looks nice but it's definitely not Genting Highland. In Genting Highland, we can breathe easy with cool, fresh misty mountain air. In Dubai, the sandstorm can blind and choke.

  4. Mickell, am glad you enjoy Gentings. Me too. I like the ambience of the whole place. One time we were there and it was so misty and so cold at night but it was very nice. The fresh air was invigorating. For us in KL, it's only an hour's ride.
