6.8 magnitude Earthquake hits Myanmar near China and Thailand borders

Another earthquake has struck Asia, this time in Myanmar near its borders with China, Thailand and Laos. The 6.8 magnitude quake hit about 55 miles (89 km) north of Chiang Rai, Thailand. One person was killed by a roof collapsing in Chiang Rai. Watch report from CNN below.

i have never expected there will be earthquake in Myanmar!! OMG, the earth is getting more and more angry already.. BTW i heard it's magnitude of 7.0..

This must be in line with the strong earthquake that had hit Japan. Certain shakes have been happening, the planet is really old now.

In all countries where earthquakes hits they should build their houses with the Japanese technology. Then only we can prevent death rate.

Foong, one consolation is that Malaysia is not sitting atop a faultline though tsunamis may affect us.

SK, if you look at a tectonic map of the world, Myanmar is sitting on top of a faultline. You are right. The initial reading was 7.0 but they revised it to 6.8.
