The Seven Wonders of the World

A group of students were asked to list what they thought were the present "Seven Wonders of the World." Though there were some disagreements, the following received the most votes:

1. Egypt's Great Pyramids
2. Taj Mahal
3. Grand Canyon
4. Panama Canal
5. Empire State Building
6. St. Peter's Basilica
7. China's Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student
had not finished her paper yet.

So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list.
The girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my
mind because there were so many."

The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe
we can help".

"The girl hesitated, then read: "I think the 'Seven Wonders
of the World' are:

1. To See...

2. To Hear...

3. To Touch...

4. To Taste...

5. To Feel...

6. To Laugh...

7. And to Love."

The room was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.
The things we overlook as simple and ordinary and that
we take for granted are truly wondrous!

A gentle reminder:
That the most precious things in life cannot be built
by hand or bought by man.

  1. Yeah, we tend to take things for granted and overlook things..

  2. That was lovely!

Actually, I'm grateful. The way people's senses of humor on these blogs have been getting these days, I almost expected the last wonder to be either sex or death. I'm so glad it wasn't!

    Thanks, Happy!

  3. Hi Chen, yeah, so true. We will only miss something when it's gone, same for people and relationships. Sad!

    MM, Ouch!!

Sex? No, too sizzling. It might burn a hole in my screen.

Death? Too morbid. It might burn a deeper (like six feet?) hole and we might end up being the grateful dead?!

    Glad you like it.

    People are SELFISH animals.

If everyone or every country pays close attention to that seven minor wonders of the World, then wars won’t have happened, NO conflict in the office, NO quarrel in the family....

    Anyway, tks. for sharing.

  5. A wonderful contemplation.
The kind that doesn't stop at seven.
Let's add more as we go along.
'To trust', that makes a relationship strong

  6. It's really hard to expect what you will post next, happy. Always. :)

This post has just made me love being human a little more, even if not everyone are born with all 7 wonders. Thanks :p

  8. I think spending the weekend with d raucous birdy from spore has probably damaged my Sense No.2 somewhat ... :)

however this has been compensated somewhat by Sense No.1 which has been heightened by sights of 200 young college gals!
    Not that I'm complaining ...

  9. I think Happysurfer is the 27th wonder of the world.

(Don't ask me about numbers 8 to 26...it's really complicated, and don't start getting any ideas!)

  10. "People are SELFISH animals."
    - Anon, right on but then again, could this be our basic instinct?
To be selfless is really noble - a rare and admired trait. I am sure it takes conscious effort to acquire that.

"If everyone or every country pays close attention to that seven minor wonders of the World, then wars won’t have happened, NO conflict in the office, NO quarrel in the family...."
    - Alas! We are only human though it would do us a lot of good to be grateful for what we have (all our senses intact and more) rather than bickering and whining about what we don't have (material things).

Anon, thank you for visiting and sharing your thoughts.

  12. Dear Low, thank you. I shall take that as a compliment. Isn't variety the spice of life? ;)

Yes, it is a great blessing to be born a human and more so if we have all the seven wonders to start with. Talk about that, I saw the movie "Ray" last week and it hit me that I am so lucky to be sighted. We take such things for granted. "Ray" is a story about Ray Charles, the blind musician. Jamie Foxx received an Oscar for Best Actor last year for his leading role.

  13. Michael, thank you for your thoughts.

FH2o, are you sure you didn't go beyond the two senses? Somehow I find that hard to believe knowing the romeo that you are. Just kidding.

MM, you are so cruel. How could you do this to me? Now I won't be able to sleep tonight. It's not derogatory, I hope. I refuse to speculate and I'm not bothered about numbers 8 to 26. Now just tell me what's 27th wonder of the world! Will I be able to take it if the truth be known? Shall I be seated in case I feel faint or shall I have a paperbag over my head or go under a metal table? What?

  14. Oh Moody, you've really got it going on now. You've made our fair lady restless. But yeah, I want to know as well. Please tell.

Ahahah...I can almost imagine you reaching for a pen and paper to draft.

  15. Considering how many wonders there are in the world, I thought 27 was quite a compliment on my part. Then I got to thinking and realized that a "wonder" can be either good or bad. I assure you, my intentions were honorable.

The 36th wonder is what Robin has under his metal table, and the 43rd wonder is how FH2o is going to respond to this comment.

Glad I am not in your 1st to 35th wonder.. I am happy to be 36 and under the table.. haha

    Moody Minstrel:

I wonder how you figured out those numbers from your mind?
    Ahem…ahem…ahem….36, 27 ‘n 43....three numbers about HappySuffer???????

  19. Agus, honestly not as restless as from your post. In fact, I'm still healing from it. Now, I've got it off me and I do feel better.

MM, honorable? Good! Then I'll take it as positive. End of subject. I'm happy. Thank you.

Robin, I'm sure you've read this before and thank you for not killing the messenger. And please don't post too much 'death'. It's depressing. Life is about living, remember?

Anonymous - You are wicked! Show thyself!

I thought I'm bad, you are worse. At least I have a pseudonym. You are faceless and nameless. Don't give me that! 'Anonymous' is not a name, not even close.

By the way, what are you trying to do? Increase the population of wicked guys on this blog? We have enough already. ;)

And how did you come up with that guess? Actually, the guys here already know that I'm not that meaty. Hey, why am I telling you this? For all we know, you could be the big, bad wolf.

Guys, shall we block-out anonymous folks? Guess not, this one's cute. hahahahhaha........
