I'll Give It to Someone Special

Found this cutie pie of an animated Christmas video that I just can't wait to share it with you. I know, I know, it's only the first day of December but... (yes, but lets you get away with things)... but time does fly and at the blink of an eye, it'll be Christmas already.

Actually I found it on LB's and he so kindly ok'd for it to be aired here, sort of like a revival. Good stuff should live forever and be enjoyed. (Thank you, LB) I fell in love with it the very first time I saw it. I guess you could say 'twas love at first sight.

I love December. Love it! Love it! Love it! The human spirit comes full circle and alive with all that sharing and giving and loving and cheer and snow-flakes (oops! not here) and shopping and presents and Christmas trees and blings-blings and more shopping and Santa Claus and mistletoes and some more shopping and bells and hugs and kisses and...(I'm out of breath..)

Okay, enough already. Let's get on with the show.

I present to you (drumroll, please)......Last Christmas (click on the image below)

  5. I HATE that song!!!!

    I HATE it!!!
    I HATE it!!!
    I HAAAAAAAATE it!!!!!!

I'll never forget my first Christmas here in Japan, when my Japanese co-workers were absolutely baffled as to why I'd want to go back to America for the holidays.

"Why can't you just find your Christmas date here?" they asked.

"My Christmas WHAT?" I asked back.

"Your Christmas date!" they replied. "You know! Of course you spend Christmas at a hotel with your girlfriend, right?"

"Um, no..." I said, perplexed. "Where I come from people usually spend Christmas with their families. Only people that can't come home for Christmas...or are extremely cold and self-centered...spend it at a freaking hotel !"

They all thought I was either lying, crazy, or stupid. They insisted vehemently that Christmas was a romantic occasion and all the elements of Christmas (including the Nativity!!?!) had a romantic theme. They were 100% positive that it was that way in Japan only because it was that way in America, too.

"After all," said one of them, "just listen to the most famous Christmas song of all, and you'll see what we mean!"

    "What, Silent Night?" I asked.

"No!" they retorted as if I were a hopeless idiot. "Last Christmas! That is the number one Christmas song, and it conveys the true meaning of the season!"

I thought for sure I was going to kill somebody, and I'm glad I didn't. I REALLY hate that song...

    Grow up girl!
Christmas was stolen from the pagans who celebrated the return of the sun, the longer days; it has nothing to do with Jesus' birth.
This is the annual brainwashing for Christmas gifts that begin around November?
What about the other REALLY ridiculous things religion makes people buy into? Bunnies and Easter eggs, and never having to explain the connection between them - oh yeah, sure, it's about fertility.
Or, how about forced starvation/fasts? Having to eat fish on Fridays or God will what, kill you?
Or that Harry Potter is evil (when it really teaches good morals and is fun)? Or that all pagans or witches are Satanists - not to mention that religions "borrowed" a lot from the pagans, such as holidays based on the seasons and phases of the moon?

  14. LB, this year, to save me from tears, I'll give it to someone special.

A sad song indeed but it's still a good ending - and that's what matters. Nice tune too. Thank you again for allowing air-play here.

  15. MM, so sad. Thanks for sharing that. Bad memories are hard to erase. I can relate to that. If I had to miss spending the Lunar New Year celebration with my family, I would feel awful too.

  16. PandaB, LOL! We will.

Somehow your comment reminds me of Green Day's "Wake me up when September ends".

  20. Dear anon, thank you for sharing that.

Traditions are hard to get away from, pagan or otherwise. I remember after man landed on the moon, my grandmother still prayed to it (the moon) during the annual Mooncake festival. In fact, all Buddhist/Toaist families still do.
