Christchurch hit by a 6.3 earthquake

Feb 22 (Reuters) - New Zealand's quake-ravaged Christchurch city was struck by a strong earthquake causing further damage after a strong quake hit the city last year, local media reported on Tuesday.

The quake was measured at magnitude 6.3 by local scientists with a focal depth of 5 kilometres, 10 kilometres southwest of the country's second biggest city. More..


In case you are wondering, Kuala Lumpur (or rather Malaysia) not sitting atop any tectonic plate fault line is not prone to earthquakes. In this part of the world, Indonesia, which has the Pacific Rim fault line bordering the archipelago is often affected by earthquakes.

  4. One of the most non violent societies on the planet, very few guns, lots of good will towards each other, crime rate very very low...for this to happen to them is totally heartbreak­ing.   6. I think there will be more earthquakes this year. That's what the feng shui experts said after analysing this year's Bazi Chart. Better not travel to earthquake prone countries! : )
