Collectibles - a spectrum that covers stuff so far and wide. I know someone who has a vast collection of old-style irons, remember those for pressing clothes and that grow you arm muscles and use charcoal? I never did ask where he keeps them. I believe he still has them all.
Talk about irons, a girlfriend who is into vintage clothing asked the other day if I'd like to go with her to the Amcorp Mall flea market this weekend. Maybe tomorrow. Who knows, lots of things happening in her schedule.
She's also planning to check out old coins and currencies for her boyfriend, perhaps maybe to snag a nice military coin or two to add to his already-extensive collection. Looking at the coins here, I'd say that should be an interesting hobby.

Friday Frolics - What Does Your Least Favorite Food Say About You?
Do you mostly eat to live or live to eat? Is there any food that gets your tastebuds tingling with delight and anticipation (we are talking about real food here) or on the other end, is there a food that you are positive you can do without or tops your list of least favourite food? Hate is a strong word here though. I believe we shouldn't hate food, afterall any food no matter how unlikable it may be to you, under certain circumstances, can be a life-saviour. No?
This week's Friday frolicking involves Food. Find out what the food you dislike most says about you.
I'd give this a 4 rating..
Rating Guide
1 = Absolutely not true
2 = Some truth
3 = 50% true
4 = Mostly true
5 = Close to 100% true

Petrol price for RON97 is now RM3 per litre
Source: The Star
The price for premium petrol RON97 has gone up by 30 sen from RM2.70 to RM3 per litre with effect from 12:01am this morning, Sep 6.
The retail price of RON97 petrol is determined by a 'managed float' in which the price changes according to market forces.
In July, the price of RON97 was reduced by 20sen to RM2.60. It was increased by 10sen to RM2.70 in August and as of today, Sep 6, it has been increased to RM3.00.
In Malaysia, the price of petrol is the same across the board meaning wherever you fill your tank, the petrol price is the same. There are two types of petrol being sold here, RON95 and RON97. The latter being the premium grade is the petrol available to foreigners (i.e., non-citizens) in the country.

Recreational hazard from football
Getting injured at work is one thing and probably unavoidable, brushed off as occupational hazard. What about getting injured at play? Certainly no fun at all.
A colleague is again hobbling around the office in a leg brace (Corflex brand, I think I saw) having sustained the injury in a football match over the weekend. We are all used to him in this condition by now as he has been injured far too many times. He's in one of the KL football leagues, which explains his numerous misadventures. Poor chap!
Talk about football, it was a harrowing experience watching Manchester United's last match with Southampton. Glad it was 3-2 to MU's advantage. MU is now at #5 below Manchester City, West Bromwich Albion, Swansea City and Chelsea FC on top with 9 points having not lost any game so far.

Haze over Malaysia
The country was shrouded in moderate haze today caused by dry weather. Every year around this time sees the country going through a hazy period due to the dry spell.
However, an evening downpour caused flash floods that snarled traffic for hours on several major roads in Kuala Lumpur, Serdang, Bangi, Nilai and Kajang.
Looking forward to better weather conditions tomorrow.

Oppa Gangnam Style!
It all started with this video, Psy Gangnam Style, a South Korean number that has taken the country, no, the world by storm.
Is it the singer, the song, the dancing, the colorful outfits or even the Gangnam gu (neighbourhood)? It's everything that's got the world fascinated and talking about it.
It’s hard not to watch it again …and again …and again which probably is why the video has chalked up more than 96 million views to-date. Here.. what's one more time!
Psy's big hit "Gangnam Style" has also spawned various reaction videos and parodies with the more popular ones receiving millions of views and turning the horse-riding dance into a dance fad around the world.
How about a Sabah Gangnam Style..a good effort here, though it has yet to meet the 1 million mark.
More proof that Malaysians are certainly in on the action on Gangnam Style. Look, even grandpa is doing the horse-riding dance in Penang. (Note the art piece behind grandpa. That's for another post. Stay tuned..)
On August 21, 2012, Gangnam Style officially charted #1 on the iTunes Music Video Charts, overtaking Justin Bieber's As Long as You Love Me and Katy Perry's Wide Awake; this feat is the first for any South Korean artist. In South Korea the song was an instant success selling 745,000 downloads in its first week and remains atop the Gaon Single Chart for five consecutive weeks since debut. As of August 23, the song was downloaded over 2,545,837 times in South Korea alone. In Finland the track took the number one place on the official download chart. (Wikipedia)
Who is Psy? Psy is a 34-year-old South Korean rapper, whose real name is Park Jae-Sang while his stage name, Psy, is short for Psycho. Psy attended Boston University and the Berklee College of Music in America, and apart from writing his own songs, he also composes songs for other singers. He is married with two daughters.
"Gangnam Style" is a 2012 K-pop single first released on July 15, 2012. It is the most viewed K-Pop song on YouTube.
"Gangnam Style" is widely praised for its humour, catchy rhythm as well as Psy's unusual horse-riding dance moves that have introduced many people outside Korea to K-pop. Gangnam Style has been talked about and featured in many foreign broadcasting networks and newspapers. Even notable artistes such as the British singer Robbie Williams and Josh Groban have also mentioned about the music video on Twitter.
Josh Groban, British opera singer, is one of the earliest celebrities to tweet about Psy’s infectious video, who on July 31 posted a link to the video and said, “It’s a Gangnam Style world, we’re just living in it. Amazing video.”
Britney Spears tweeted "I am LOVING this video – so fun! Thinking that I should possibly learn the choreography. Anybody wanna teach me?
Katy Perry wrote on Twitter: "Help, I'm in a Gangnam-style K-hole." - to which Psy replied “I...I’m the very ‘PSY’ of the video. K k. This is a H~~~uge pleasure to be introduced by U~!!!”
On August 16, 2012, Nelly Furtado performed an English version of the song in her concert in the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
Psy is considering a song with Justin Bieber, and has met with Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun. (Wikipedia)
Everyone is doing the fun horse-riding Gangnam Style dance. Are you? If you haven't, here's how. To start, the shades, don't forget the shades.. LOL!

Looking for a Fender Mustang?
Technology has indeed changed the way we live. The way we shop is one area we are doing different from as recently as a few years ago. We feel just as comfortable (or even more so) shopping online as at the basic conventional brick-and-mortar establishment.
We now think nothing of buying stuff online, from groceries and cooked food to toys, books, gold coins, golf sets, fishing rods to even applying for credit cards, and more - and all just a convenient click away.
If you are looking for a Fender Mustang guitar, you are in the right place. As we speak, there is currently an online sale on Fender Mustang guitars and more. You will be amazed at how much you will be able to save shopping at this clearance sale on the guitar as well as on other musical products including drums and percussion items, keyboards, audio and accessories and more.

Merdeka Day 2012
Source: The Star
Malaysia celebrated Merdeka Day yesterday, Aug 31, marking 55 years of independence from Britain. The country has come a long way and achieved much though sadly, we have fallen behind in some key areas. Democracy and equality in their true sense are not practised in this country. Hopefully, it won't take another 55 years to achieve the true state of democracy and equality.
The image above shows the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, waving to tens of thousands of Malaysians gathered at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil for the Promises Fulfilled rally in conjunction with the Merdeka Day celebrations last night.
The theme for this year's Independence Day is '1Malaysia Promises Fulfilled' which some say is politically-inclined and does not reflect a theme for the nation's celebration of independence.

A little update on the Merdeka Day celebration in Kuala Lumpur yesterday..
A belated Happy Merdeka Day nevertheless. A Google Malaysia doodle to commemorate the occasion of the 2012 Merdeka Day. The logo depicts Malaysia's national flower, the Hibiscus.
