Malindo Air takes off on its maiden flight

Contrary to the announcement made in Sept last year, we don't have to wait for May for more travel choices when Malaysia's second low-cost carrier, Malindo Air, gets on board.

Today, Malindo Air takes to the skies with its maiden flight taking off from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu at 6:50am.

Set up as a hybrid airline, Malindo Air stands between full-service airlines and low-cost carriers. In our local context, Malindo Air is in between Malaysia Airlines and Air Asia. Still,
Malindo Air gives travellers another choice of air travel at a lower fare.

Malindo Air is a joint-venture between Malaysia's Nadi Sdn Bhd and Indonesia's largest domestic carrier, Lion Air parent PT Lion Grup. The airline will be operating the Boeing 737-900ER airplanes, which have a capacity of 180 seats each and capable of serving destinations within a five and a half hour range. There is also provision for business class.

All flights will take off from KL International Airport.
