Japan post-Tsunami - in pictures

Let's look at some pictures of the devastation caused by the tsunami that hit northeast Japan on Friday, Mar 11. Radioactive danger from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station has become an added concern.

Some pictures... Don't these look like Lego bricks or some kids building blocks? They are actually displaced cargo containers in Sendai after the tsunami.

This is heart-wrenching. Residents evacuated to a shelter in Natori city, Miyagi prefecture.

Homes burned and ships were piled in a mass of debris in Kisenuma city, Miyagi prefecture.

A boat and cars swept by the tsunami on a street in Miyako City.

Overturned cars amid piles of rubble in a residential area in Oarai, near Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture.

Police officers patrolled near the nuclear power plant in Fukushima Prefecture on Saturday.

A worker cleaned up debris at a hotel in Nakaminato, Ibaragi Prefecture, on Saturday.

  1. it's a sad tragedy but then because it's in japan the death toll has been kept at the minimum given this magnitude of devastation.. i guess this is something the japanese can feel proud of, their attitude and how they react to natural disasters, no chaos and they still try to get through the hard time in harmony..
