Earth Hour in Kuala Lumpur

At 8:20 last night, I reminded myself that I must watch the lights go out at the Petronas Twin Towers. 8:30 came.. and went. Then much later at 10-nish, I realised that I had missed the greatest show on earth for climate change. Oh well.. Better luck next year.

So now, I have to rely on stills as in images or pictures for a glimpse of it. If you are just like me, below are two great shots from The Star. You can also read about The hour the lights went out..

  3. Was very worked up yesterday to receive an email about TNB suing WWF and replied the email left & right to a friend until I saw it was a HOAX in Donna's blog. Gee burning brain cells for nothing. But that email looked so real. Nowadays we just cannot believe anything we see on internet and emails lots of *crazy* people around. So you missed the 'show' haha try next year. I was at home in deep thoughts for one hour:p. tQ

Not everyone believes in Earth Hour. Only a certain section of the population.

  9. Ken, not really. I know Penang had an event at Gurney Drive, and possibly Malacca too took some action. Anyone out there can confirm and provide info on other towns and cities in Malaysia?

  10. Hi Ezra, I'm sure you were not alone. Thanks for stopping by.

Bananaz, LOL about believing in that hoaz. Actually, was shocked too when I first heard about it but later was relieved to know that it was fabricated by blogger who owns a blog with such articles. Post was posted on Thurs but taken down on Sat.

Engaged in deep(-fried Bananaz) thinking for that hour? Wow!

  11. Mei Teng, so sad if that is the case. The world is dying around us and some people don't even care. What a shame.. Worse still, these may be the same people who are whining about how hot the weather is these days. *rolls eyes*

Tekkaus, I know Penang too participated besides KL. What about Malacca? Were you eating a romantic candle-light dinner at Nando's?

  12. Hi Keeyit, so sad. Kampung no Earth Hour? Not even in Kampung home? :p

Hi Yen, agree that even WWF acknowledges that it will not have such a big impact on the environment. However, Earth Hour is more an action for a call to the authorities to take action to counteract climate change.

Earth Hour raises awareness of global issues, particularly in regard to our overuse of non-renewable resources, and resultant light and air pollution.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  14. Last year they saved 10% energy. This year they only saved 6%. I think perhaps another 1 or 2 more years. They might scrap this idea totally.

  15. Ai Shiang, the same here. The article in today's paper says "Smaller drop in power demand" as TNB recorded a load reduction of 203MW vs last year's bigger drop of 550MW. TNB cited reason due to our current hot weather. Global warming.. the more we should take drastic steps to reverse the effects of climate change.

Did you say scrapping the idea totally? Or perhaps have it every month? Oops!
