A little of Alison Moyet today, perhaps..

I could listen to this all day..

Sing along if you wish..

All Cried Out

Alison Moyet

You take your time to come back this time
The grass has grown under your feet
In your absence I changed my mind
And someone else is sitting in your seat

I know that I said there'd be no-one else
I know that I said I'd be true
But baby, I burned a Cupid's arrow
And here's the short and narrow
I've nothing left to offer you

I'm
All cried out
You took a whole lot of loving for
A handful of nothing
All cried out
It's hard to give you something when
You're pushing and shoving me around

So don't look surprised there was no disguise
You knew where I stood from the start
So stop (Stop) look around you
You're right back where I found you
Take back your cold and empty heart

All cried out
You took a whole lot of loving for
A handful of nothing
All cried out
It's hard to give you something when
You're pushing and shoving

All cried out
You took a whole lot of loving
All cried out
It's hard to give you something when
You're pushing and shoving me around

You go your way
I'll go mine
I won't stay around here
Don't you waste my time

All cried out
You took a whole lot of loving for
a handful of nothing
All cried out
It's hard to give you something when
You're pushing and shoving

All cried out
You took a whole lot of loving
All cried out
It's hard to give you something when
You're pushing and shoving me around

All cried out
You took a whole lot of loving for
A handful of nothing

All cried out
You took a whole lot of loving

All cried out
You took a whole of loving for
A handful of nothing

All cried out
It's hard to give you something when
You're pushing and shoving me around(all cried out)

Budget Day - October 21

Today is Budget Day - where Malaysia's Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak presents the Government's Budget 2017.

What can Malaysians expect from the new budget..

Let's see what The Star has to say:

Below are some items that could feature in the coming year's budget, according to analysts' research notes and local media reports.

CASH AID
RHB Bank foresees a RM100 ringgit hike in cash handouts for low-income households, bumping up the allocation to about RM6.6 billion next year in a bid to stimulate consumer spending. For 2016, it was increased by RM50 to RM1,000 per household.

GST
The Government will likely maintain the goods and services tax introduced in April 2015, at 6% to avoid any disruption to household expenses and cost of doing business, says asset management firm Affin Hwang.

CORPORATE TAX
Affin Hwang thinks a one percentage point cut to corporate tax, effective 2018, will be announced. The rate was cut by one percentage point this year to 24%.

PERSONAL INCOME TAX
There will likely be no cut to personal income tax rates, though there may be more provisions for tax relief next year, according to Maybank Investment Bank. More..

We'll know for sure this evening or out in black-and-white tomorrow. Que sera sera. This 'Starbucks' uncle says it well..

This image has gone viral. It shows an elderly man in Hong Kong, reading his newspaper nonchalantly in a flooded Hong Kong Starbucks cafe. The Chinese has a saying that even if the sky falls, you can use it as a blanket. No big deal at all.

Happy Friday, everyone!

A Hoax - `Cosmic rays` text message

Did you get this text message as well? The one that says..

“Tonight 12:30am - 3:30am be sure to turn off the phone: Singapore TV has announced the news. Please read about it and take care of yourself. Tell your dear relatives and friends: This evening from 12:30am - 3:30 am, dangerous, high radiation, cosmic rays will pass close to the Earth. So please turn off your cell phone. Do not let your cell phone be close to your body, it may cause damage. Please check the Google NASA and BBC News. Forward this message to all you care for.”

You didn't believe it, did you? Why? Because that's a hoax message. In fact, this 'untruth' has made its rounds numerous times over the years.

A quick google yield amongst others back in 2015, even the authorities in Brunei had a message out that goes as follows:

The Authority confirms that no such information has been released by either NASA or BBC concerning cosmic rays passing the earth causing harmful radiation through cell phones.

In this regard, the public is advised not to panic or pay heed to this. The Authority also advises against spreading such false information to others'.

Another source..

IB Times of Australia said this hoax surfaced as early as 2008 and then in 2012 again and that the Earth’s atmosphere likewise has protection against most cosmic rays. The rays would only affect phones would be if it impacts satellite communications, but not on the device itself or the gadget’s batteries'.

According to NASA: The sun's magnetic field is our first line of defense against these highly-charged, energetic particles. The entire solar system from Mercury to Pluto and beyond is surrounded by a bubble of solar magnetism called "the heliosphere." It springs from the sun's inner magnetic dynamo and is inflated to gargantuan proportions by the solar wind. When a cosmic ray tries to enter the solar system, it must fight through the heliosphere's outer layers; and if it makes it inside, there is a thicket of magnetic fields waiting to scatter and deflect the intruder.

Also..

Earth is in no great peril from the extra cosmic rays. The planet's atmosphere and magnetic field combine to form a formidable shield against space radiation, protecting humans on the surface. Indeed, we've weathered storms much worse than this. Hundreds of years ago, cosmic ray fluxes were at least 200% higher than they are now. Researchers know this because when cosmic rays hit the atmosphere, they produce an isotope of beryllium, 10Be, which is preserved in polar ice. By examining ice cores, it is possible to estimate cosmic ray fluxes more than a thousand years into the past. Even with the recent surge, cosmic rays today are much weaker than they have been at times in the past millennium'.

There you go. Now you know. Spread the word!
