Kim Kardashian robbed at gunpoint in Paris apartment

“Life of Pablo” rapper Kanye West canceled his concert (mid-song) at the Meadows Festival in New York Sunday night citing a family emergency and didn’t give further details. Concertgoers were upset naturally not knowing West’s wife, Kim Kardashian was held at gunpoint in her Paris apartment in a robbery.

According to MSN..
The 35-year-old reality star went through a horrific ordeal on Monday (03.10.16) when five thieves dressed as policemen robbed her at gunpoint in her apartment in Paris, during which they tied her hands with plastic handcuffs, duct taped her, and stole more than $10 million worth of jewels, and Pascal Duvier (her bodyguard) - who was out with her sisters Kendall Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian - is adamant the culprits will be found.

Police sources have revealed Kim was tailed by two men in the days before the robbery, with the suspects - described as Caucasian and North African and having French accents - posing as a plain-clothes detective and a photographer to gain 'close surveillance' information ahead of the terrifying incident.

And one had even tried to gain access to the 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' star's apartment within the exclusive Hotel Pourtales.

A source said: "Kim Kardashian was tailed for at least three days before the robbery.

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian returned to New York "badly shaken" on Monday after being robbed at gunpoint in her Paris residence by masked men who stole some $10 million worth of jewelry from her.

Kardashian, who has two young children with husband-rapper Kanye West, was not beaten but the robbers put a handgun against her temple before tying her up, the source said.

The robbers stole a box containing jewels worth 5 million to 6 million euros ($5.6 million to $6.7 million) and a ring worth about 4 million euros ($4.5 million), the Paris police source said. As news of the robbery spread, West abruptly ended a performance in New York less than an hour into his set on Sunday night.

The Paris apartment block is a discreet building behind the city's Madeleine church, with several secret entrances, often frequented by movie and music stars who pay up to 15,000 euros ($16,800) a night. The source said the attackers fled on bicycles.

The robbery set social media alight, with some users making fun of the latest headline-grabbing event in the life of a TV star who documents her life continually on screen and on social media.

James Corden, the host of U.S. talk show "The Late Late Show," said on Twitter, "People making jokes about @KimKardashian tonight would do well to remember that she's a mother, a daughter, a wife, a friend. Be nice or shut up."

Pretty shirt and stuff

Aww, isn't this a pretty shirt! Saw this in an online Orange Coast Magazine and which reminds me I have a couple of Esprit shirts with motifs like that and which they've not been worn for quite a while. The trouble with having too many items is that they don't get rotated frequently enough or worse still, they lay forgotten somewhere until they get rediscovered. Do you have that problem?

What I do these days is whenever I come across a piece of clothing, accessory or anything that I know that won't be used again, it will go into a recycle basket that I've just set up. Now, why didn't I think of that earlier! Hmmm..

Shopping for Plus Size Dresses

One profession I believe that will never go out of demand is dressmaking. A colleague the other day was lamenting about the increasing cost of getting her clothes tailored and with the Chinese New Year just around the corner, prices have further increased.

Being on the plus side, she finds it difficult to find clothes off-the-rack. KL does have stores catering to plus sizes but they are few and far between. Besides seeking the seamstress's service, she sometimes goes online. Shopping online is a good option where one can also find plus size prom dresses, if need be.

By the way, AEON department stores in Kuala Lumpur do have a good selection of Plus size clothes, so do F.O.S. outlets and Reject Shop.

A Lesson on Hats

Fedoras are gaining in popularity here. In our tropical climate, any hat is a good bet when outdoors.

Wikipedia says: A fedora is a felt hat most commonly worn by men (but women wear it too nowadays).

The hat is typically creased lengthwise down the crown and "pinched" in the front on both sides. Fedoras can also be creased with teardrop crowns, diamond crowns, center dents, and others, and the positioning of pinches can vary. The typical crown height is 4.5 inches (11.4 centimeters).

The brim is usually approximately 2.5 inches (6.3 centimeters) wide, but may be wider, can be left "raw edged" (left as cut), finished with a sewn overwelt or underwelt, or bound with a trim-ribbon.

The term fedora was in use as early as 1891. Its popularity soared, and eventually it eclipsed the similar-looking Homburg (explanation on this to follow).

Fedoras can be found in nearly any color, but black, grey, tan ("fawn"), and dark brown are the most popular. The fedora as a personal statement has made impacts on American and global culture: Indiana Jones popularized his fedora in the Indiana Jones franchise. In music, Michael Jackson frequently wore a fedora in public appearances, concerts and video clips.

A Homburg is a formal felt hat characterized by a single dent running down the center of the crown (called a "gutter crown"), a stiff brim shaped in a "kettle curl" and a bound edge trim.

The Homburg is made from stiff felt and has a grosgrain hatband and brim trim. The original Homburg was of slightly more generous proportions than the modern version.

Here's an image of Hugo Resinger holding a fashionable grey Homburg hat, 1907. Painting by Anders Zorn.

And now we come to Kangol Caps.

Kangol is a clothing company famous for its headwear. Founded by Jaques Spreiregen in 1938 in Cleator, Cumbria, England, Kangol produced hats for workers, golfers, and especially soldiers. They were the major beret suppliers to the armed forces during World War II. The name Kangol is derived from the K from silk, the ANG from angora, the OL from wool. Kangol products have graced the heads of the rich and famous, including the Beatles and Arnold Palmer, and later Princess Diana.

Here's a picture of Samuel L. Jackson wearing a Kangol cap/beret at the San Diego ComicCon 2008. As Jules Winnfield, he wore a Kangol upside down in the movie Pulp Fiction.

If I were looking for Briefcases for Men..

When I was at a bank card Rewards Fiesta the other day, I was very attracted to the stalls that were selling bags and they sure came in all brands, types and sizes. Interesting colour range too. No shocking pink for me, thank you very much.

If I were in the market for briefcases for men, I would be one happy shopper there at the Fiesta. But what did I buy in the end? You'll have to stay tuned to find out.

Year-end shopping (for Medical Scrubs?)

Coming to the end of the year, people look to buy certain items that they don't normally need other times. For instance, year-end is when parents go hunting for school uniforms for their school-going children.
I was wondering if it is time for people in the medical profession to be out looking to buy scrubs? I'm just guessing because of late, scrubs or medical scrubs have been one of the regular keywords on the blog.

I know that clothes, shoes, bags, accessories and such are my all-year-round purchases. Oops! Do you have anything you purchase specific times of the year? Christmas-shopping is one. What others?

The royal couple visited a rainforest in Borneo and enjoyed the high life - by being hoisted up a 130ft rainforest tree by ropes and walking along a 300-metre long canopy bridge.

Kate joked: 'I'm going to go "whee" and fly the way up.'

After lunch, much to their delight, they were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of an Orang-Utan family, a mother, father and their baby, while with a guide from the lodge.

The couple have vowed not to let the furore over a magazine's decision to publish topless pictures of the Duchess derail their nine-day Diamond Jubilee tour of South East Asia and the South Pacific.

The say they are determined to press ahead with their high profile visit.

A source close to William and Kate, said they felt intense anger and disappointment at what had happened but believed very strongly that the tour was far too important to British interests abroad to be allowed to suffer.

'The Duke and Duchess are hugely disappointed by what has happened but both feel very strongly that it should be business as usual,' the source said.

'They feel it has been a great success so far and have thoroughly enjoyed the places they have visited and the people they have met.

The couple launched a legal action in the French courts against Closer magazine for what they described as a 'grotesque' and 'unjustifiable' breach of their privacy.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, concluded their four-day visit to Malaysia Sunday.

They were given a traditional red carpet send-off at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport at about 7am. Next stop: the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.
