Princess Diana - bright light shone into driver's eyes 'killed' her

It was Malaysia's Independence Day when it happened. The year was 1997 on August 31 when I first learned about Princess Diana's death from the auto accident in a Paris tunnel. I remember dropping what I was doing then and glued myself to the telly in disbelief watching the news unfold with shots of the mangled Mercedes Benz in the Paris tunnel. It was surreal.

A couple of months ago, I read about Scotland Yard reopening the case and yesterday it was all over that the princess's death was an alleged plot to have her killed by an elite British Army unit and that they had been monitoring Diana, 36, and boyfriend Dodi Fayed, 42, and chose to carry out the assassination in a tunnel.

But an inquiry heard the romance was not opposed by either the British royal family or any other branch of government. A post-mortem also found that Diana was not pregnant.

The ex-wife of a former SAS soldier told detectives that her husband had claimed that the "hit" had been carried out on the orders of individuals within the royal inner circle because they didn’t approve of Diana’s relationship with Dodi Al Fayed.

Soldier N as he has been referred to confessed to his wife that Princess Diana was assassinated and that a bright light was shone into the Paris car she was being driven in.

Soldier N decided to confide in his wife after taking Prince William on an SAS advanced driving course that same year but swore her to secrecy but she told her mother the extraordinary story after their divorce.

He told his wife that a former colleague, who had since left the SAS, was involved in the plot and that a motorbike and white car were used.

"We were talking about it and I was saying how lovely it was that Princes William and Harry were doing so well and that it was sad that their mum wasn't here to see it," the wife reportedly told Scotland Yard detectives last month, Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper reports.

"Then he said one of the guys was responsible for the accident, for the death of Diana. I was shocked. I believed what he said."

"He also said that it very nearly didn’t happen. When I asked how anyone could do something like that he said, ‘It’s an order, a job’s a job’. He said that it had to happen in the tunnel to guarantee death. He said that it looked bad so they left," the wife said.

The allegations first surfaced two months ago during the court martial of another SAS veteran who was convicted of illegal possession of a weapon and ammunition. Detectives have since interviewed Soldier N's ex-wife and former mother-in-law.

The army unit reportedly is able to kill by shining high density beams into the eyes of targets to either cause road accidents or disorientate victims so they could be killed in another way.

Diana, Fayed and their driver Henri Paul were killed in a Paris underpass in 1997 after Paul crashed their Mercedes into a wall.

In 2008, a British jury ruled that Diana and Fayed were unlawfully killed due to reckless speed and drinking by their driver, and by the reckless pursuit of paparazzi chasing them.

At a 2007 inquest, Francois Levistre claimed that a motorcycle pulled up to the car and directed a light into the vehicle before the Mercedes ploughed into a wall, but his evidence was disregarded at the time because he was not considered a reliable witness and no other witness reported seeing a flash.

At Harrods in London, one of its windows is dedicated to Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed, whose father owned the luxury department store. Harrods was sold in 2010 for £1.5 billion; half of the sale used to pay bank debts of £625 million. (Wikipedia)

It was reported that on August 19, 2013, French police detained several paparazzi following the shock death of Princess Diana and her boyfriend Dodi Fayed in a Paris road accident.

Royal baby is named George Alexander Louis

What's in a name? Lots - with some cultures maintaining the family name or surname. If you were born into a traditional Chinese family, there is a certain sequence to naming an offspring based on the family lineage. In a normal three-character name, the centre character of the name is determined as charted. It's quite a complicating process but one that is recorded somewhere filed away for reference for when the need arises. But this tradition is slowly fading away with the new generation.

Britain's new prince born on Monday, July 22, has been named. The naming is relatively quick by British royalty standards as Charles and his first wife Diana took a week to announce William's name in 1982, while the world had to wait a month after Charles was born in 1948.

The new royal baby is named George Alexander Louis, sticking firmly to royal tradition with a first name used by six previous kings. He is third in line to the throne and will now officially be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge, after his father and mother the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The baby will not automatically be King George VII when he comes to the throne, however, as there have been reports that William's father Prince Charles may take that title when he succeeds the queen.

A little understanding of how the name was chosen:

Louis is one of William's middle names and was also the first name of Lord Louis Mountbatten, the Viceroy of India and a mentor to Prince Charles. Mountbatten was killed in 1979 when the Irish Republican Army blew up his boat off the coast of Ireland.

Alexander meanwhile puzzled the pundits, apart from the fact that the queen's middle name is Alexandra.

But George, which was the 12th most popular name for baby boys in England and Wales in 2011 and derives from the ancient Greek word for farmer, was widely predicted.

"George is obviously a tribute to the Queen's father and will, I imagine, give her majesty great pleasure," historian and royal biographer Robert Lacey said.

British bookmakers said they had taken a loss on the name but the size of the betting market on the royal baby compensated for it.

Congratulations have poured in from around the world, while Chinese fortune tellers predicted the baby will grow up to be determined but introverted - and a hit with the ladies. The new prince was born on Monday, Jul 22 at 4:24pm. The lunar calendar date is the 15th day of the 6th lunar month - a fullmoon day.

By the way, have you seen the Oscar-winning film "The King's Speech"? It is the story of George VI, Queen Elizabeth II's father, whose birth name was actually Albert and was known as Bertie. The film portrayed George VI's struggle to overcome a severe stutter and lead his nation during World War II. Colin Firth, one of my favourite actors, was cast as George VI.

Royal baby is a boy

The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a baby boy, Kensington Palace has announced - and the names of the baby would be announced in due course. The baby was delivered in the private Lindo Wing of St Mary's where the world's media had been camped outside St Mary's for days in anticipation of the birth.

The baby was delivered at 16:24 BST at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, west London, weighing 8lb 6oz.

The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth of his son, who will be known as the Prince of Cambridge and who is third in line to the throne.

In line with tradition, the news has been displayed on an easel in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace - as in the picture above.

More on BBC.com..Royal baby: Kate gives birth to boy

Looking forward to checking out the range of souvenirs that will go on sale to celebrate the birth of the royal baby. There are lots to choose from if you want a momento. The Harrods branch in KLCC will be a good place to check out some.

Royal Birth Plan for arrival of royal baby of Prince William and Kate Middleton

Source: US Weekly

Britons and fans of British royalty around the globe are waiting anxiously for the arrival of the royal baby of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton.

I imagine Britain must now be basking in festivity, especially in London where fans and photographers camp outside St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, hoping for first news of the baby's arrival. It was reported that more than 180 photographers and journalists camped outside the hospital 24/7 as of July 8.

This royal baby, whether it's a boy or a girl, will be an heir to the throne due to a recent law change that a girl can ascend to the throne.

There is a lot of speculation as to when the baby will arrive as well as to the sex of the baby. Even big bets are being placed on their names. The big favourite if it's a girl is Alexandra due to the fact that is the current Queen's middle name and has historically been a royal name. If it is a boy, James is the favourite, again because of historical connections, as well as it is Kate's little brother's name.

There are strong rumours that it is a girl. The baby's due date was Jul 11 so the royal family is anxiously awaiting the baby's arrival. But of course, there is a royal birth plan in place.

What's the Royal Birth Plan like?  Here's a gist of it:

Needless to say, the palace staff is on call every day and night in July.

As soon as the duchess feels her first contraction, she'll alert her private secretary who will then ring the duchess's doctor on his palace-issued mobile. There's no way anyone can intercept it because it's an encrypted signal.

The doctor will then hop into his BMW 6 Series, throw a flashing green emergency beacon light on the roof, and drive the seven-mile, 26-minute route from his Muswell Hill, North London home to St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington.

In view of the scores of photogs and journalists camping outside the hospital, the duchess will be swept through one of three side entrances into a suite in the fourth-floor Lindo Wing. The $1,500-a-night room -- outfitted with WiFi and satellite TV -- was sanitized and sealed off July 1 in preparation for her arrival, then monitored daily by security.

Expecting a Baby

Yay! A baby or two in the offing. Not mine, but for Prince William and Kate. They just announced the pregnancy. The mother-to-be is in hospital with a type of very acute morning sickness that sometimes indicates twins.

The baby is destined to become Britain's monarch whether it is a boy or a girl.

The couple, officially known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, married in April last year, amid a global media frenzy and there has been much speculation, particularly in U.S. gossip magazines, about a possible pregnancy.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, are on a tour of the Far East as representatives of Queen Elizabeth II in conjunction with the celebration of her Diamond Jubilee. Malaysia is included in the itinerary. Their Royal Highnesses arrived at KL International Airport on Thursday, Sep 13, to begin their three-day official visit in the city.

Malaysia was their second destination after Singapore in their 9-day tour of the Far East and South Pacific. Let's trace their footsteps a little to see the activities they have been involved in..

The royal couple visited a rainforest in Borneo and enjoyed the high life - by being hoisted up a 130ft rainforest tree by ropes and walking along a 300-metre long canopy bridge.

Kate joked: 'I'm going to go "whee" and fly the way up.'

After lunch, much to their delight, they were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of an Orang-Utan family, a mother, father and their baby, while with a guide from the lodge.

The couple have vowed not to let the furore over a magazine's decision to publish topless pictures of the Duchess derail their nine-day Diamond Jubilee tour of South East Asia and the South Pacific.

The say they are determined to press ahead with their high profile visit.

A source close to William and Kate, said they felt intense anger and disappointment at what had happened but believed very strongly that the tour was far too important to British interests abroad to be allowed to suffer.

'The Duke and Duchess are hugely disappointed by what has happened but both feel very strongly that it should be business as usual,' the source said.

'They feel it has been a great success so far and have thoroughly enjoyed the places they have visited and the people they have met.

The couple launched a legal action in the French courts against Closer magazine for what they described as a 'grotesque' and 'unjustifiable' breach of their privacy.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, concluded their four-day visit to Malaysia Sunday.

They were given a traditional red carpet send-off at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport at about 7am. Next stop: the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.

A Royal Wedding next year - Prince William and Kate Middleton

Thirty years after the fairy-tale nuptials of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, though with an unhappy ending, Britain will finally have another big royal wedding: its dashing helicopter-pilot prince - second in line to the throne - will marry the lovely commoner who may someday become queen.
Prince William and girlfriend Kate Middleton have been sent congratulations from around the world after announcing their engagement. They have been together for eight years after meeting while students at St Andrews University, Fife.

The Queen said she was absolutely delighted for them both, while Prince Charles said he's thrilled and joked, "They've been practising long enough."

Their wedding will be held next spring or summer, revealed the couple, both 28. The prince proposed while on holiday in Kenya in October.

The engagement ring was his mother's, engagement ring, a distinctive sapphire and diamond engagement ring - a £30,000 ring consisting of 14 diamonds surrounding a sapphire. Jewellers say they have already had orders for copies of the engagement ring.
Bookmaker Paddy Power has made Saturday, 13 August 2011 the 3/1 favourite for the date of the royal wedding. Princess Diana married Prince Charles on 29 July 1981. Will Prince William and Kate Middleton choose the same date? Left to be seen..
