Short Shots: Personality Quizzes

Let's end November with a trip, an ego-trip, that is. Here are some really, really simple personality quizzes. Honest, they're so short and simple you'd be wondering how they're able to tell your character. Beats me, but do try them, just for the fun of it.

Let me share my readings. I'm not taking them seriously, so you shouldn't either.

***Your Hidden Talent***
You are both very knowledgeable and creative.
You tend to be full of new ideas and potential - big potential.
Ideas like yours could change the world, if you build them.
As long as you don't stop working on your dreams, you'll get there.

Now your turn.
What's Your Hidden Talent?

Are You Hot?
Don't you wanna know?

LOL, this one cracked me up.

***You Are Smokin' Hot***
You're a terrible flirt, a sharp dresser, and a party animal.
Of course, you're totally sizzling too. And for you, being hot just comes naturally.

What Time Of Day Are You?
Check it out.

***You Are Sunrise***
You enjoy living a slow, fulfilling life. You enjoy living every moment, no matter how ordinary.

You are a person of reflection and meditation. You start and end every day by looking inward.
Caring and giving, you enjoy making people happy. You're often cooking for friends or buying them gifts.
All in all, you know how to love life for what it is - not for how it should be.

And finally
Are You Psychic?
Are you? Are you? Well, find out.

***You Are 90% Psychic***
You are so very psychic.
But you already predicted that, didn't you?
You have "the gift" - and you use it daily to connect with others.
You're very tapped into the world around you...
Just make sure to use your powers for good!

Now, wasn't that fun!? Hope you enjoyed that little excursion. I did.

Never Wore Fricken Lacy Lingerie

Frogma (Bonnie) of New York posted this comment on my earlier post, The Best Medicine...Laughter. I love it! It is so good that I feel it deserves a place on the mainboard. So, here it is.

So, for all single ladies out there, this is for you.

Bonnie, thank you for sharing it.

Bonnie said:

I just got this from a friend (married, actually!) this morning & thought you'd enjoy!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl "Will you marry me?" The girl said, "NO!
And the girl lived happily ever after and went shopping, dancing, camping, drank martinis, always had a clean house, never had to cook, did whatever the hell she wanted, never argued, traveled more, had many boyfriends, didn't save money, and had all the hot water to herself.
She went to the theater, never watched sports, never wore fricken lacy lingerie that went up her backside, had high self-esteem, never cried or yelled, felt and looked fabulous in sweat pants.

Happy Birthday to FH2O

Happy Birthday, FH2O, and Many Happy Returns of the Day (November 29).

*Singing*
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear FH2O
Happy Birthday to you.

Having a birthday between Nov 22 to Dec 01 means
You fell from the ASH TREE (the Ambition)

Uncommonly attractive, vivacious, impulsive,
demanding, does not care for criticism,
ambitious, intelligent, talented, likes to play with fate,
can be egotistic, very reliable and trustworthy,
faithful and prudent lover, sometimes
brains rule over the heart,
but takes partnership very seriously.

Nov 25 - Dec 23

Always impressive, RAVEN people are a tower of strength. They are more intelligent than their peers and are adept problem-solvers. They enjoy challenges are stimulated by wild and exposed places.

Born on the 29, you are in the Number 2 people group.
No matter what, you will be loved by everyone coz your ruler is the Moon and everyone loves the Moon. Well, you are a person who daydreams a lot, you have very low-self confidence, you need backup for every move in your life, you are very much unpredictable meaning you do change according to time and circumstances, kinda selfish, have a very strong sense of musical, artistic talent, verbal communication, your attitudes are like the Moon so everybody can expect changes in you. You can be a next Mahathma Gandhi who is peace-loving or you can be a Hitler who wants to destroy mankind and peace (in the community and your own Home).

People born between Nov 17 to 30 being in the Cat group
Are very shy and cute. They are followers and don't like to talk to people they don't know. They are very careful about choosing their friends. They are really nice.

FH2O, best wishes for yet another wonderful year of Happiness, Health and Wealth!

The Best Medicine...Laughter

I haven't been posting jokes lately, so here are some to continue the tradition. Enjoy.

Why divorce?
In a divorce court a woman requested the judge:
"Your honor, I want to divorce my husband."

"But why?" asked the judge.

She replied, "Because he is not faithful to me."

The judge asked, "How do you know?"

She replied, "My lord, not a single child resembles him."

Love Your Enemy
From his death bed, the husband called his wife and said,
"One month after I die I want you to marry Samy."

"Samy! But he is your enemy!"

"Yes, I know that! I've suffered all these years so let him suffer now."

Same Service
A husband visited a marriage counselor and said,
"When we were first married, I would come home from the office, my wife would bring my slippers and our cute little dog would run around barking. Now after ten years it's all different, I come home, the dog brings the slippers and my wife runs around barking."

"Why complain?" said the counselor.
"You're still getting the same service!"

Love To Do
A wife, one evening, drew her husband's attention to the couple next door and said,

"Do you see that couple?
How devoted they are?
He kisses her every time they meet.
Why don't you do that?"

"I would love to." Replied the husband.
"But I don't know her well enough."

No Answering Back
A man was telling his friends,
"When my wife is infuriated, she starts shouting at me, my children and even at our dogs and nobody dares answer her."

One of his friends asked.
" And when you are angry, what do you do?"

The man replied,
"I also shout angrily at the windows and doors of the house and none of them dares to answer back.

Coming Home Late
A woman was complaining to the neighbor that her husband always came home late, no matter how she tried to stop him.

"Take my advice," said the neighbor, "and do what I did.
Once my husband came home at three o'clock in the morning, and from my bed I called out:

"Is that you, Jim?"

And that cured him.

"Cured him !" asked the woman, "but how?"
The neighbor said, "You see, his name is Bill."

Problem Father
"You look troubled," I told my friend,
"what's your problem?"

He replied, "I'm going to be a father."

"But that's wonderful," I said.

"What's wonderful? My wife doesn't know about it yet.

And this one must be taken with a huge pinch of salt. Guys to note.

New Blog Features

You might have noticed two new features on the sidebar of my blog. The first is "Who Links To Me".

This was borrowed from Pandabonium's blog week before last. As the name implies, this feature gives an idea as to who is linking to the blog.

The other feature is the Neo Counter and this I got from the Moody Minstrel's blog. Generally, I'm not concerned about traffic volume to my blog. This Neo Counter is interesting in that it allows for various configs by country and city and each category allows for a few ways of tracking traffic. It also offers four cool backgrounds. I chose to show just one type of each category, recent cities and daily visitors by country, and I chose backgrounds of the Savanna (with three birds flying across the sunset sky) and Tropical (with an airplane across the sky and two nuts (I mean coconuts) falling to the ground.

On the first day after installing this, I noticed a city called Sheboygan, WI, which reminds me of "Home Alone". Remember the kind gentleman (played by the late John Candy) who offered the mom a ride in his van when she could not get an air-ticket home? Perhaps I'm mistaken.

Anyway, I saw cities like Soldetalje (Sweden); Burnaby and Port Coquitlam (Canada); and Igea Marina (Italy), Noordbroeksterhamrik (Netherlands) on the city-roll. Wow! These are cities that I had never even heard of and it is really exciting seeing them. Of course there are familiar ones like Bahamas, Quezon City (The Philippines), Santa Fe, London, Manchester, Bristol, Melbourne, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, KL and the different regions of Malaysia and even some of these are not familiar to me. Some geography lesson here. (And I just saw Ulaanbaator (Mongolia) - this is way too cool.)

As much as it is exhilarating for me to see those cities, I imagine it would also be exhilarating for visitors to the blog to see their cities being listed. I know I would get a kick out of it if I were to see my city on a city-roll on anyone's blog. Wouldn't you?

Excitement does not even come close. I am more in awe of how borderless the world has become and communication is merely a mouse-click away. Awesome! But a sombre thought here - why can't we even live together in peace?!

Well, give them a try. These features are free and easy, i.e., free to use and easy to install. Thanks PandaB and MM, for showing the way.

Switching to a different matter, I have decided not to wait until December to change the music video. I changed it over the weekend to "Forever Young". I figured "Hotel California" has served us well and need a rest. I hope you will enjoy the new one. Here are the lyrics to the song - I thought you might want to sing along.

FOREVER YOUNG
Alphaville

Let's dance in style, let's dance for a while
Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Are you going to drop the bomb or not?

Let us die young or let us live forever
We don't have the power but we never say never
Sitting in a sandpit, life is a short trip
The music's for the sad men

Can you imagine when this race is won
Turn our golden faces into the sun
Praising our leaders we're getting in tune
The music's played by the madmen

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever and ever
Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever young

Some are like water, some are like the heat
Some are a melody and some are the beat
Sooner or later they all will be gone
Why don't they stay young

It's so hard to get old without a cause
I don't want to perish like a fading horse
Youth is like diamonds in the sun
And diamonds are forever

So many adventures couldn't happen today
So many songs we forgot to play
So many dreams swinging out of the blue
We let them come true

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever and ever

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever and ever

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?

Postcards from America

How time flies. Once again Postcards from America has selected the four finalists for this year's Postcards/Photography competition. Here are the four. Which one do you like? Which one would you vote for?

In last year's competition, one postcard on Oregon was chosen. This year, there is once again a finalist depicting Oregon. Oregon must be a beautiful state. Oregon reminds me of the Moody Minstrel. MM is from Oregon but is now living in Tokyo.

Check out last year's photos.

CCTV on Traffic in Kuala Lumpur

For some of us, traffic jams contribute a big part to our daily stress, twice a day going through traffic congestion to and from work.

Wouldn't it be helpful if we have an idea of traffic conditions before we leave home in the morning or the office after work?

This knowledge would allow us the option of taking a different route to avoid the hassle of getting to work in a less stressed out state.

Folks in Kuala Lumpur now have this advantage of knowing traffic conditions ahead of time, day or night, thanks to the CCTVs installed by City Hall. The pictures are realtime and get updated every minute on your screen.

For overseas friends and folks living outside Kuala Lumpur, you can now get to see a little bit of parts of Kuala Lumpur. Here is where you can access realtime CCTV KL Traffic.

I was told this system has also been installed for Penang but unfortunately, I do not have the site address. If you do have the link, would appreciate it if you could share it with us in the comments block. Thanks in advance.

Altantuya murder case - Razak Baginda OUT on bond

The frontpage of major dailies today is once again being hogged by the Altantuya murder case but this time the focus is on Razak Baginda being released on bond. Well, what do you know!

KUALA LUMPUR: Abdul Razak Baginda was released on a RM1mil court bond after he claimed trial to a charge of abetting in the murder of Mongolian beauty Altantuya Shaariibuu.

The 46-year-old political analyst was allowed to go home yesterday after a High Court here allowed his release under the bond, which was without security, due to his poor health.

Father of murdered Mongolian woman speaks up

In court today, Shaariibuu Setev praised police for their quick work in solving his daughter’s murder. He was happy with the system.

But minutes later, after the court released Abdul Razak Baginda on a RM1 million bond, Shaariibuu looked dejected.

Clearly not expecting the court decision, the 56-year-old did not hide his frustrations when speaking to reporters outside the courtroom after proceedings.

Of Barbie Dolls and Others

Last weekend, I gave in to an urge to do some gallivanting, so decided to visit One Utama in Damansara. "One U" for short, is one of Kuala Lumpur's many shopping malls. The anchor tenants here are Jaya Jusco (Aeon) and Parkson. It was my first visit since they added the new wing to the complex and since IKEA moved out.

Being the weekend, there were a number of product promotions in the concourse areas. First up, saw lots of people lining up at the balcony on every floor. On looking down, realised it was a Barbie promotion. The show started off with a number of dance schools performing. I was on the second floor so just managed to get a few faraway non-sharp shots - sorry. Here is one. Looks like there were more adults than children. Did you know that Barbie first made its appearance on March 9, 1959? Also, Mattel, the toy producer, estimates that there are well over 100,000 avid Barbie collectors. Ninety percent are women, at an average age of 40, purchasing more than 20 Barbie dolls each year.

Vintage Barbie dolls from the early years are the most valuable at auction, and while the original Barbie sold for $3.00 in 1959, a mint boxed Barbie from 1959 sold for $3552.50 on eBay in October 2004. On September 26, 2006, a Barbie doll set a world record at auction of 9,000 pounds sterling (US $17,000) at Christie's in London.

There was also an OSIM promo. The products promoted were in the form of massage chairs and the like. It drew a good crowd trying out their massage chairs. (Another dark aerial shot.)

BMW and Mercedes Benz were also strutting their stuff. I have no pictures for this one. There were too many sales personnel around so I was rather embarrassed to take any shots. Lots of people milling about the show-units too.

Going through the annexe that joins the old wing to the new, I saw this mural on the wall. It is a mural of tiles and mosaics, whose artwork was contributed by children in the "Green Friends" project - something to do with the environment. Look at the painted tiles up-close. They are very pretty and meaningful and some have the artist's name and age on them too.

The external facade of some of the shops caught my attention. I noticed just one outlet with a Christmas display. Surprising. Surely there should be more decorations by now. I like this huge display of Nicole Kidman for Chanel No. 5. Made me wonder (again) what that couch-jumper was thinking.

I like this one too - GUESS. Big is beautiful, I guess.

And this one, an airy and pleasing-to-the-eye outlet - the clever use of glass. Nice.

What about this? An eye-catching nook. I did not check out what it was though. Notice it says PLAYBOY on top? There were colourfully-painted footprints on a floor of black leading up to the stairs. Anyone knows what this place is? A club? A boutique? I remember seeing a clothes outlet directly one floor up. Perhaps the staircase leads to that outlet above?

I also took pictures of some food outlets but they did not turn out well. One was of a Japanese restaurant illuminated inside by lots of longish red lanterns. The decor looked nice and cosy. Another fascinating outlet is one that sells Chinese herbal drinks. What was fascinating about that place are the huge urns and a gigantic teapot or cauldron-like container holding the herbal drinks.

It was fun, playing tourist, but all too soon, it was time for home. I must say, that was a good trigger-happy outing.

Altantuya's Family performs soul prayers

PETALING JAYA: “I never thought it would end this way?”

Those were the words, uttered tearfully, with which Dr Shaariibuu Setev bid farewell yesterday to his 28-year-old daughter, Altantuya, who was brutally murdered a few weeks ago.

Dr Shaariibuu had gone to Puncak Alam, Shah Alam, to hold prayers to appease her soul. Altantuya's bone fragments had been found scattered in the area.

Dutch to ban wearing of Muslim burqa in public

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - The Dutch government agreed on Friday a total ban on the wearing of burqas and other Muslim face veils in public, justifying the move on security grounds.

Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk will now draw up legislation which will result in the Netherlands, once one of Europe's most easy-going nations, imposing some of the continent's toughest laws against concealing the face.

France has banned the Muslim headscarf and other religious garb from state schools while discussion in Britain centres on limiting the full facial veil, or niqab.

Italy has a decades-old law against covering the face in public as an anti-terrorism measure. Some politicians have called for this rule to be enforced against veiled Muslim women.

The Hat

An old lady was standing at the railing of the cruise-ship, holding her hat tight so it wouldn't blow away in the wind. A gentleman approached her and said,

"Pardon me, madam. I do not intend to be forward but did you know that your dress is blowing up in this high wind?"

"Yes, I know," said the lady. "I need both my hands to hold onto this hat."

"But madam, you must know that you are not wearing any panties and your privates are exposed!" said the gentleman in earnest.

The woman looked down, then back up at the man and replied, "Sir, anything you see down there is 85 years old.

I just bought this hat yesterday."

Lunar New Year Divorce

Not sure if this is a true story but it sure is an interesting one.

An elderly man in Penang called his son in Hong Kong and said,

"I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough."

"Pop, what are you talking about?" the son screamed.

"We can't stand the sight of each other any longer," the old man said. We're sick of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Canberra and tell her," and he hung up.

Frantic, the son called his sister, who exploded on the phone.

"Like heck they're getting divorced," she shouted, I'll take care of this."

She called her dad immediately, and screamed at the old man,

"You are NOT getting divorced! Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back, and we'll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?" and hung up.

The old man hung up his phone and turned to his wife.

"Okay," he said, "they're coming for Lunar New Year and paying their own airfares."

Confusion over which Altantuya

Today's papers carry this article:

Confusion over which Altantuya was murdered

ULAN BATOR: Many Mongolians were confused as to the real identity of the victim in the brutal murder of one of their models in Malaysia.

When they heard that the victim was a model named Altantuya, they were quick to assume that she was Altantuya Honggul, better known as Toya, now based in Paris.

Davaadorj Bolormaa, 36, who runs a top fashion agency and modelling school here, said people assumed it was Toya because she was well-known, had the same first name as Altantuya Shaaribuu and is about the same age.

Altantuya's Dad is Still Hopeful

Dad refuses to accept remains - Dad still hopeful
The family of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu believes that she is still alive and is fervently praying for her safe return. Her father Dr Shaariibuu Setev, 56, who arrived in Petaling Jaya on Thursday with a blood sample of his wife, refused to accept or believe that the skeletal fragments recovered at Puncak Alam in Shah Alam could be that of his missing daughter.

He also said that the woman in the photographs from the Internet, showing a striking resemblance to his daughter and which were published in newspapers yesterday, was not Altantuya. Read article...The Star

Is this Altantuya?

PETALING JAYA: An email containing pictures of a model who looks strikingly like the murdered Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu has been making the rounds, including to the media.

The email has a subject entitled Altantuya@Mongolia.

No one seems to be able to confirm if the pictures are that of Altantuya or otherwise.

It will all be confirmed or denied today when her father, who is in town, meets the Press for the first time.

The Brassiere

Received some cute illustrations about bra codes so I thought I'd add on more meat (forgive the pun) to the post.

First, a little history is in order.

The first modern brassiere to receive a patent was one invented by a New York socialite named Mary Phelps Jacob in 1913. Mary had just purchased a sheer evening gown for one of her social events. At that time, the only acceptable undergarment was a corset stiffened with whaleback bones. Mary found that the whalebones poked out visible around the plunging neckline and under the sheer fabric. Two silk handkerchiefs and some pink ribbon later, Mary had designed an alternative to the corset. More info here...The History of the Brassiere

For more information, you can also visit the Wiki.

By the way, remember the song "The Girl from Ipanema"? Ipanema is the touristy part of Rio de Janiero, Brazil, and Brazil is well-known for her beaches and more so for the perfectly-tanned, body-beautiful ladies in their skimpiest of skimpy beachwear. The bikini was actually invented by a Brazilian lady who used strings to hold the pieces of teeny-weeny bits of cloth together and voila! the bikini was born.

And, if you have often wondered about the bra-codes (yes, you got it right - bra-codes not bar-codes), well, wonder no more. Here is the lesson which would be difficult to forget, I am pretty sure.

Now you know.

Of course, there is always the other side of the coin to balance things up. There is a school of thought that encourages not using this uplifting(?) contraption due to them being hazardous to health. Read article.
