E.coli outbreak in the cards?

No, the above is not a kaleidoscope pattern. It's a pattern of sliced cucumber and tomato, vegetables that are causing the current E.coli outbreak in Germany. 14 people have died and more than 300 seriously ill in Germany. The outbreak has spread to other north European countries and is expected to worsen in the coming week according to medical experts.

From The Star..Germany E.coli cucumber death toll rises to 14:
The source of the virulent strain of the bacteria is unknown according to German authorities. Most of the deaths have been in northern Germany. The E. coli pathogen has been identified on cucumbers imported from Spain but it is unclear if they were contaminated there, during transport or in Germany.

There are 36 cases of suspected E. coli in Sweden, all linked to travel in northern Germany, authorities said. A small number of cases have been reported in Britain, Denmark, France and the Netherlands, all linked with travel to Germany.

The identified pathogen, hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS) affects the blood, kidneys and in severe cases, the nervous system and can be particularly serious for children and the elderly.

Consumers have been warned by German authorities to avoid eating cucumbers, lettuces and tomatoes and some products have been ordered to be removed from shelves.

Can we really predict the future or know what's coming? Below is a prediction (report) received last week, for the forthcoming fifth lunar month which begins on June 2. There is mention of armed conflicts and terrorist activities and natural disasters. What's new? However, I was skeptical when "DISEASES" was mentioned, but with this E.coli outbreak, can we mark it down as mere coincidence?

Subject: Time for new beginnings and start putting your dreams into action

We will be entering into the 5th lunar month that is from the 2nd Jun – 30th Jun 2011. Many people might have experienced many changes during the past lunar month. Some were traumatized, some rejoiced, leaving some still wondering what had happened. Putting the past behind us, this 5th lunar month will be a time for new beginnings, to pioneer new ideas and developing new routines. If you want to watch your ideas grow and your dreams take shape, this will be an opportune time to act. Most of us will be able to develop our individuality and leadership qualities to the utmost. Our creativity and originality will be enhanced. We will be ambitious and possess a great deal of drive to lead. We will be able to express our ideas clearly, be persuasive and charismatic. In general, you will have great expectations for yourself. Remember that you can be a pleasant, persuasive and confident leader. However if you go overboard you will run the risk of becoming self-indulgent, opinionated, selfish and domineering. Should that happen, others might feel intimidated and will withdraw from you. In doing so, you might also attract the wrong group of people to work with or to implement your plans. This will limit the likelihood of success of your plans. Success cannot be achieved by being alone or by living in our own world. Do not be a self-indulgent and unpopular leader. You will want to be seen as a rising leader with unlimited potential. Start to put your dreams into action now!

During this 5th lunar month, there will be a great deal of social activities and enjoyment in terms of wining and dining. As everybody’s popularity starts to soar, there will be a lot of negative temptations lurking around the corner and many might be drawn towards vices. Everybody will appear to be friendly but most relationships might remain only on the surface. It will be best not to take such “friendliness” at face value. You might join in the fun but avoid being hooked on to any negative forming habits that will have detrimental effects on your creditability and relationship with your life partner etc. For those of you who have had a personal reading done with me and if it is indicated that you might meet your special person during this month, your personal reading will supersede the above.

There will also be armed conflict and terrorists activities in the Indian Sub- Continent and parts of Eastern Europe. North East Asia and the US might be plagued with natural disasters and diseases.

For those who need to cleanse their crystals or have been using their crystals actively, you might want to use the moonlight of the 17th June 2011 to do so.

Collette Vacations for Best deals on Europe tours

Travelling to a country in Winter on holiday is not exactly my idea of an ideal holiday. I prefer to travel light and dress light - no fuss about winter clothing or extra extra layers. Plus, who doesn't like some sunshine..

Beijing is one of my top destinations to visit in China but it won't be a Winter visit, mind you. Nowadays, there is no shortage of travel agencies selling packages for china tours. The other day, I was going through some sites for guided Beijing tours and was pleasantly surprised to find so many choices and packaged tours with varied destinations. I wonder what is the best time to travel to Beijing.

Italy is another country topping my travel list. I have no doubt should I start checking out on italy tours, there will be lots of choices. Watching Astro's TLC is a delight especially when they show Venice and Vatican City. They just showed one last night. Did you know that policemen in Rome are wearing uniform designed by Giorgio Armani? How cool is that! Italy is indeed the fashion capital of the world!

If you like history and art, Europe is a fabulous place to visit. Escorted tours are aplenty. You would be spoilt for choice for europe tours. I stumbled upon a travel site online that offers not only tours to Europe, but to other interesting parts of the world including Panama, the Land between the Seas, as it is called. Collette Vacations is offering some great discounts currently, so if you are looking for a good travel deal, Collette Vacations is where you could pick up some great savings and they do have lots of discounted packages and special offers, left, right and center. Check them out. You won't regret it.

Barcelona beats Man Utd 3-1 in Champions League final

There is no doubt. Manchester United lost to a better team. Congratulations, FC Barcelona!

The Star: At Wembley Stadium, Barcelona and Lionel Messi put their places among football's all-time greats beyond all doubt Saturday as the Argentina striker scored one goal and created another in a 3-1 Champions League final win over Manchester United.

GOALS:
27' [1 - 0] P. Rodriguez
34' [1 - 1] W. Rooney
54' [2 - 1] L. Messi
69' [3 - 1] D. Villa

Ferguson said, "They do mesmerize you with their passing and we never really did control Messi. But many people have said that."

"In my time as manager, it's the best team I've faced," he added. A third Champions League title in six seasons and fourth overall means that only Liverpool, AC Milan and fierce rival Real Madrid have won more European Cups than Barcelona's four.

On the Man United website, Sir Alex was quoted as saying, “I think it is the best team we have ever played. They are at a tremendous peak in the cycle of their team and you get teams who elevate themselves to that status and I think Barcelona are that team.

“We were well beaten. There is no other way to address the situation. We were beaten by the better team, a fantastic team of course, but I expected to do better. We expected to do better, it’s as simple as that.”

The two team managers, Pep Guardiola and Alex Ferguson.

“It has been a great season in many ways," said Sir Alex. "We are just disappointed we’ve come to Wembley twice and been beaten, against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final and then to Barcelona in the final of the European Cup. But it has been a fantastic season - we are just disappointed it has ended on a disappointing note.”

Sir Alex feels his side also belong among the European elite after a strong run to a third final in four years.

"I think our record this season has been excellent. We have won some really important games, but tonight we were beaten by probably, in fact definitely, the best team in Europe. There is no shame in that. From time to time you do come up against a team that is better than you and tonight was that."

Nemanja Vidic of MU said, "“I think if you look at the past, we have never played against a team like we did tonight against Barcelona. We just have to give them credit. They played good football and they deserved to win.”

Commentators had said before the game that Barcelona, which had already won a third straight Spanish league title, would be ranked among football's truly great sides with victory over United.

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has now won 10 titles - including two European Cups - in three years.

Lineups:
Barcelona: Victor Valdes, Dani Alves (Carles Puyol, 88), Javier Mascherano, Gerard Pique, Eric Abidal, Xavi Hernandez, Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta, Pedro Rodriguez (Ibrahim Afellay, 90), Lionel Messi, David Villa (Seydou Keita, 86).

Manchester United: Edwin van der Sar, Fabio da Silva (Nani, 69), Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick (Paul Scholes, 77), Ryan Giggs, Park Ji-sung, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez.

Feng Shui your business card

A friend who runs a business recently asked if I have any contact for a business cards printing service.

She's looking into changing the design of her business card to incorporate some feng shui principles.

Champions League Final - FC Barcelona v Manchester United - May 28, 2011, Wembley Stadium

This is going to be huge! Tonight's game, I mean, between Barcelona and Manchester United. It's their Champions League final, two in three years which Man U lost to Barca in 2009 with a scoreline of 0-2.

Ferguson said. "It really could be the best final of the decade. The attraction of two teams with such history is obvious. Anything could happen in this game." - according to The Daily Chilli.

Here's image of Man United players training on the eve of the crucial day.

"According to the bookmakers, we are underdogs, but I don't think that matters to us," Ferguson said. "Anyone coming to a game of this nature doesn't care what the experts say or the bookmakers say.

Who are you rooting for? Here are some stats comparing both teams achievements thus far. (Click on image to enlarge.)

Remember Paul the Octopus, well, in Spain, Iker the “psychic” octopus has predicted Manchester United will beat Barcelona to be crowned club champions of Europe in today’s final in London.

Iker forecast a United win in the Champions League by choosing to eat a sardine from a glass cylinder decorated with the club’s crest instead of one from a cylinder with Barcelona’s crest at the Sea Life Aquarium in the southern resort of Benalmadena.

Barca need not worry though, as Iker last month wrongly forecast the Spanish club’s arch-rivals Real Madrid would make the Wembley final. So there.. More..

Besides prestige and all, what else would the players look forward to? Barcelona star, Lionel Messi and his teammates will each earn 650,000 pounds (about twice the amount MU players will be making) if they win the Champions League final which works out to more than 7,000 pounds per minute or 120 pounds for every second on the pitch.

The amount is not evenly spread out among the squad however. It is believed World Footballer of the Year, Messi and stars like Xavi and Iniesta will pocket well over a million each.

As for Manchester United players, each player can expect to pick up around 350,000 pounds if they beat Barcelona. This is part of a 9 million-pound reward for winning the title and conquering Europe.

Here's the team line-up courtesy of Yahoo! (Click on image to enlarge.)

Enjoy the game. Check out kickoff below, also indicated on image at the top.

The Right Hair Loss Products

Here's a quiz. What has four letters and keep some people awake all night? Ah-ha, dirty minds at work now! I know what you are thinking but not that. It's hair.

Believe me, some people do lose sleep over loss of hair. Hair was recently the topic of our breakfast discussion. We have a colleague who went for a hair-growing exercise though we don't see any difference after that. Hate to burst his bubble so we are not saying a word.

There are lots of hair loss products in the market today and many products promise much but deliver little. So, if you see a need for a hair loss product, best to check it out thoroughly before you commit to it.

Gary Neville testimonial match, May 24, 2011 - Pictures

Please excuse the overkill on news about Manchester United but please bear with me while I close the loop on the previous post about testimonial match for Gary Neville who retires from competitive football and who will join the Sky Sports team now his playing days are over. Gary Neville goes down in history as a one-club player (just with Manchester United).

The star at the testimonial match against Juventus at Old Trafford is, of course, Gary Neville but it was a treat to see Beckham playing again at Old Trafford donning his number 7 shirt playing under the Manchester United banner alongside the other Class of 92 players and old teammates including Nicky Butt, Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, and Gary Neville. There were two number 7s on the pitch, the other being Michael Owen. As if on cue, Beckham even had the chance at a free kick a la the old days bringing on knowing smiles from him and his long-time friend, Gary Neville. Some memories..

Class of '92
L to R: Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Gary Neville, (Mgr) Sir Alex Ferguson, David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Phillip Neville

Let's see more pictures..

Recognise the gentleman in the suit? That's Dwight Yorke, alright. Together with Andy Cole, they made a formidable striking force back in 1999 when MU won the treble that season. Those really were the days! Dwight was one of the two commentators at the testimonial match.

A reunion on the pitch, Gary and David Beckham

Beckham, Phil Neville (Gary's brother who plays for Everton now), and Nicky Butt (who's playing in Hong Kong currently.) Beckham is with LA Galaxy (that's Los Angeles Galaxy) but trains in one of the clubs in Europe when it's off-season in the US. Love the way he's still able to control the ball. Check out his boots.

We got to see Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes being featured for the opening 30 minutes. No one was injured which made Gary Neville happy. It was a good game to watch though MU lost to Juventus with a scoreline of 1-2. The crowd was 42,000 strong at the stadium.

A picture of Gary Neville receiving an MU club award.

Gary Neville steps out at Old Trafford with his children for a final farewell to the United faithful.
Alright, how did I know what happened? I watched it live on You Tube this morning. It was a last-minute find. Enjoyed the match but woke up this morning feeling like a zombie. LOL!

Manchester United - Champions 19 - Barclays Premier League 2010/2011

Fans yesterday had a double-treat at Old Trafford. Not only did they see their favorite team beat Blackpool (though I was rooting for Blackpool to win getting them out of relegation), they also got to see Manchester United receiving their trophy for winning the Barclays Premier League for the 19th time! - a record, beating Liverpool's 18 times. Below a montage of images taken from the ManUtd website.. More images where these came from.

Needless to say, these new Manchester United jerseys and other paraphernalia commemorating winning the league for the 19th time will be collectors items - MU scarves, mug, cap, fridge magnet, DVD, photo in presentation folder, and car sticker.

As individual players, some of the MU players achieved records or personal bests, while for Sir Alex Ferguson, it is his 11th win in the Premier League.

Player achievements include

1. Ryan Giggs' 12th EPL win
2. (Dimitar) Berbatov ties with (Carlos) Teves (of Manchester City) for the Golden Boot award scoring 20 goals each
3. Michael Owen's first-ever win in EPL after years playing in EPL
4. Top scorers for the season are Manchester United with 78, closely followed by Arsenal with 72.

Michael Owen

“I won a lot of trophies with Liverpool but to win the Premier League is the pinnacle of anyone’s career. I’m very proud today. I’m really pleased and proud to have played with a great crop of lads and obviously the manager’s second to none.”
- Michael Owen

Just like Peter Schmeichel before him, goalkeeper, Edwin van de Sar bids farewell, both retiring on a high note - winning the Premier League.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I'll always keep a warm place in my heart for Manchester United, the biggest club in the world.

"I want to thank the manager, the fans, the players, and also my family - my parents, my wife and my kids."
- Edwin van der Sar

Hear van de Sar's farewell speech..

Watch video of the trophy-presentation.

Glory Glory Man United..

Next... see you at Wembley..May 28.

Another Iceland Volcano Erupts, Grimsvotn

Oh dear, another volcano has erupted in Iceland on Saturday sending billows of ash up to 12 miles into the air on Sunday, and prompting the island nation to close its main international airport to commercial air traffic as a precaution. Grimsvötn is the most active volcano in Iceland though past eruptions have been relatively small and have not posed a direct threat to the population. This is not the same one that caused disruption to air traffic in most parts of Europe in April of last year. That volcano is Eyjafjallajökull.

According to the NY Times, the Icelandic authorities said that as of 8:30 a.m. local time, Reykjavík-Keflavik International Airport was closed to all inbound and outbound air traffic. By Sunday afternoon, Iceland’s three other international airports were also closed to most commercial flights.

The authorities have closed the main road to the eruption site and advised people living near the volcano to stay indoors or, if they must go outside, to wear protective masks and goggles.

Here's a map that shows the location of the Grímsvötn eruption. (Source Iceland Met.) Grímsvötn volcano is in the middle of Vatnajökull Glacier.

and here's a map of Iceland. Vatnajökull Glacier is the big glacier in the South East.

Ashton cigars, Rocky patel cigars and more at Cigarplace

Cigars. I have to admit I knew nothing about cigars until I came across this site, Cigarplace.biz. Perhaps, this is the best place to buy cigars and at the best prices too.

I never knew there are so may different brands of cigars. Cigarplace has a list of hundreds of them. No kidding! Fortunately, the list is in alphabetical order so locating one type is not a problem. You can find from Ashton cigars to Rocky patel cigars. Looking for a oliva cigar? They have that too.

Cigarplace also carries Samplers and currently, some of them are selling at a much reduced rate at a discount as much as more than 40%! Check them samplers out! There are 100 items in all from La Aroma de Cuba to CAO Gold 4-cigar to Montecristo Classic and more.

Cigars are also categorized into Small cigars, Flavored cigars, Bundles, Limited editions, and New cigars. Also available are Name brand 2nd's. These are imperfect cigars though they are the exact same blend. They taste just the same, the only thing that is wrong is probably the weight of the cigar or imperfect wrappers. Other than that it is pretty much the same and not banded. Cigarplace has 27 brands in all and from what I see, they all come with great discounts. Cigar connoisseurs sometimes stock up on 2nd's because they smoke exactly the same as the normal cigars, just cost a lot less. Some stock up cigars to age them. The smoke is what draws a smoker to a particular brand.

Everyone likes special offers and good deals, even cigar-smokers. Cigarplace holds exclusive offers and specials for their customers on a regular basis.

Accessories are also available on Cigarplace. You can find ashtrays, humidors, cutters & punches, lighters, hydrometers and more. All these are going at a discount currently. They make great gifts too.

Understanding the Actual Effects of the Fukushima Nuclear Meltdown

The Mayan Calendar says the world will come to an end on Dec 21, 2012. That is roughly 585 days away. I counted. Will this prediction come to life? Your guess is as good as mine though we all hope that it's just a fallacy, a false notion, concocted to break cinema box-office records for the movie, 2012.

Fast-forward to present times. The world has recently witnessed a natural disaster off the coast of northeastern Japan, an earthquake on March 11, so powerful that it has now made the history books as being one of the 5 strongest in the world at 9 on the Richter scale. A tsunami followed, wiping out a big portion of that part of Japan that in some parts, water still fills the land around homes discouraging residents from venturing outdoors. The coastline has withdrawn inwards and the Earth has shifted some 8 inches on its axis reducing her revolution to a fraction of a second.

Lives lost and properties destroyed, life has changed forever for many, and is still changing with the nuclear plant meltdown. Just as we speak, more villagers from as far as 30km away from the nuclear site have been asked to evacuate.

How bad is the effect of this Fukushima nuclear plant meltdown, really? We know of the Chernobyl disaster. Up to today, the effects are still being felt. 80% of babies born around the area are born abnormal. Experts say this Fukushima nuclear plant disaster is even worse. I'll leave you with this video. Watch it to get a better understanding of the repercussions.

Sweet 19!

We might as well learn up this Manchester United theme song for the next karaoke session. Come to think of it, it's not a bad number. It's got a good catchy tune to it too. hehe..

Lyrics below..

Glory glory Man united,
Glory glory Man united,
Glory glory Man united,
As the reds go marching on on on!

Just like the busby babes in days gone by,
We'll keep the red flags flying high,
You're gonna see us all from far and wide,
You're gonna hear the masses sing with pride.

United, Man united,
We're the boys in red and we're on our way to Wembley!

Wembley, Wembley,
We're the famous Man united and we're going to Wembley,
Wembley, Wembley,
We're the famous Man united and we're going to Wembley

In Seventy-Seven it was Docherty
Atkinson will make it Eighty-Three
And everyone will no just who we are,
They'll be singing que sera sera

Wayne Rooney's penalty clinched a record 19th English title for Manchester United on Saturday by salvaging a 1-1 draw at Blackburn.

Rooney drove home the spot kick in the 73rd minute after Javier Hernandez was fouled, ensuring that United overhauls Liverpool as the most successful team in English league history.

Alex Ferguson's side required only a point to regain the Premier League trophy from Chelsea with one game to spare, but the visitors fell behind after 20 minutes when Brett Emerton capitalised on poor defending and goalkeeping.

United's breakthrough came after a moment of controversy, when the striker Hernandez was tripped in the area by goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

A Motorhome requires Motorhome Insurance

If you own a car, you would need auto insurance to cover against any untoward incident happening to your vehicle. Similarly, if you own a motorhome, you would need motorhome insurance for the same reason.

Insurance coverage for a motorhome or an RV (recreational vehicle) is different from a regular auto insurance. It offers extra features such as you could cut your premium in half while you’re not using your RV and loss of personal belongings is covered to name just two. Driving without insurance is against the law. The thing to remember is that insurance is not an option, it is a responsibility.

Google doodle: Honoring Martha Graham

Another animated Google doodle today. This time to honor someone who made a difference in the performing arts, Martha Graham. See the little performance on google.com.

Some information from Wikipedia..

Martha Graham (May 11, 1894 – April 1, 1991) was an American dancer choreographer regarded as one of the foremost pioneers of modern dance, whose influence on dance can be compared to the influence Stravinsky had on music, Picasso had on the visual arts, or Frank Lloyd Wright had on architecture.[1] Graham was a galvanizing performer, a choreographer of astounding moves. She invented a new language of movement, and used it to reveal the passion, the rage and the ecstasy common to human experience. She danced and choreographed for over seventy years, and during that time was the first dancer ever to perform at The White House, the first dancer ever to travel abroad as a cultural ambassador, and the first dancer ever to receive the highest civilian award of the USA: the Medal of Freedom. In her lifetime she received honors ranging from the key to the City of Paris to Japan's Imperial Order of the Precious Crown. She said, "I have spent all my life with dance and being a dancer. It's permitting life to use you in a very intense way. Sometimes it is not pleasant. Sometimes it is fearful. But nevertheless it is inevitable."
