2017 Auspicious days to start work after Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival is steeped in tradition and beliefs.

Choosing an auspicious date to get married, for instance, is still practised today in a traditional Chinese-ethnic family.

Choosing a good date to move house or to move into a new business premise is also common. To reap optimum results, it requires not only choosing the date but even down to the time-frame of that date. All this is related to harnessing the good effects of Feng Shui.

Likewise, to ensure a good year ahead in the new lunar year, choosing the right or auspicious day to begin work after the Chinese New Year/Spring Festival is desirable. It is believed that one may have a smoother, less-hassle year ahead if one starts work on an auspicious date.

Now what's a good/auspicious day to start work after the Chinese New Year?

This Feng Shui site suggests three options:

Option 1: 1 Feb, 2017 - 5th Day, 9am – 11am. The best of the best timing will be 9:30-9:40am.

This date is specifically good for people who are born in the year of Ji or ends with 9. e.g. 1959, 1969, 1979, 1989 etc. Using this date and time for activation will bring in good career. Note: most people can use this date and time, just that this date/time is better for those born in the year of Ji.

Option 2: 1 Feb, 2017, 5th Day, between 11am – 1pm. The best timing will be 12:40 – 12:50 pm.

This date is specifically good for people who are born in the year of Geng or end with 0. e.g 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990 etc. Using this date and time for activation of calm mind for handling of stressful matters. Note: most people can use this date and time, just that this date/time is better for those born in the year of Geng.

Option 3: 2 Feb, 2017 - 6th Day, between 7-9am. The best timing will be 7:30am.

This date is specifically good for people who are born in the year of Geng or end with 0. e.g 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990 etc. Using this date and time for activation will bring in prospect in career and relationship. Note: most people can use this date and time, just that this date/time is better for those born in the year of Geng.

Here's another series of options as suggested by Joey Yap. Start work on the 4th day (31 Jan), 6th day (2 Feb), 12th day (8 Feb) or 14th day (10 Feb) - at 9:30AM for a smooth-sailing year ahead.

Today is the 2nd Day of the 15-day celebration.

May the new lunar year of the Fire Rooster bring you Happiness, Good Health and Prosperity!

Next up we'll take a look at auspicious colors in the new year of the Rooster. Stay tuned.

Good days to start work in 2015 after Chinese New Year

The Spring Festival or more commonly known in this part of the world as the Chinese New Year is just days away - 1st day of the 15-day celebration begins on the 19th.

Some would have already called it a year and have started their trip back to their hometown over the weekend. Some are still not sure when to commence work after the long holiday.

If you are someone who sort of is concerned about starting the new year on the right footing (who doesn't anyway), here's a guide on good days or auspicious dates to start work after Chinese New Year.

That chart below provides not only the dates but the best timing as well, together with info on which animal to avoid which day.

I don't have info for best colour(s) to wear this year but I remember reading that red is the colour this year but then again, red is THE colour for Chinese New Year. You won't go wrong wearing red, right down to the unmentionables. :D

Happy Chinese New Year of the Goat!

Lucky Colours for 2014

Today is the 6th day of Chinese New Year and some of us are already back at work, me included. Hopefully we've picked the auspicious day to start the year right in this new Year of the Horse, the Wood Horse, that is.

Being a year with more wood element this year, thus a Wood Horse year, according to Feng Shui, some colours may be better than others to enhance our luck or personal well-being.

In 2014, being the year of the Wood Horse, the most influential colour is green, said feng shui expert Kenny Hoo.

We can reap the benefits of using colours. To create good qi, Hoo said, wear green clothes or use products that are green in colour. It is also a good colour for your house or product packaging or branding.

Check out what he says about Lucky shades

Individuals born from Feb 4 to May 4 should use more Metal and Earth colours like white and silver, yellow and brown.

For those whose birthdays fall between May 5 and Aug 7, use more blue to enhance your qi.

Those born between Aug 8 and Nov 7 should incorporate more green.

These individuals are very lucky this year because the Wood element is very strong.

“When the Wood Horse year takes effect from Feb 4, you will feel energised. Everything will fall into place. Even money will come your way easily,”

The lucky colour for those born from Nov 8 to Feb 3 is red.

Being a Feng Shui ambassador for Dulux Malaysia, Hoo also has tips on Ideal hues for the different sectors of the home in his Colour yourself lucky article in The Star, if you are interested.

What does the 11th lunar month hold for you?

Ever wondered why some months life is easier but at other times not so smooth? Yes, the forces around us are constantly at work. Like karma, we don't see it but without a doubt, we are feeling the influence it has on our life whether we like it or not.

We are now in the beginning of the 11th lunar month, two months shy of the new lunar year. There is good news for this month as this 11th lunar month which began on 3 December ending on 31 Dec, looks set to be a good month. Read on..

The festive season has officially arrived! We will be entering into the 11th Lunar month which will be from the 3rd Dec to the 31st Dec 2013. Many will be celebrating Winter solstice (22nd Dec), Christmas and New Year. During this festive month, individuals will be busy running errands, traveling or even moving house. Despite the hectic schedule, many will squeeze in time in pursuing a quality lifestyle. Beautiful things, branded goods and glamorous experiences will be simply irresistible. Many will not hesitate to spend huge sums of money to indulge in these. If you are in the hospitality line or businesses that sell luxury items and experiences, this will be a great month to tap on.

This lunar month will be a highly energized one where individuals who have leadership qualities will rise in their respective areas, particularly in the social, political, military, medical and spiritual arena. These individuals will influence and lead a large number of people to make huge changes. There will be movements and even revolution.

All levels of transformation will be completed this month. In other words, ideas that have been formed will mature and take shape. To illustrate this, many ideas thought about or discussed previously may die off and their corresponding plans will be aborted. However, many ideas will be supported, the necessary actions will be carried out and they will materialize in this lunar month. The Law of attraction will be very effective at this time. This will be a fantastic month to make your dreams come true. However, a word of caution: be careful of what you wish for.

We will expect this month to be a joyous one with heavy indulgences. It will be advantageous for us to develop intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. Let there be light.

For those who need to cleanse their crystals or have been using their crystals actively, you might want to use the moonlight of the 18th December 2013 to do so.

Adding good fengshui to your home

Water features are popular in Chinese homes mainly for that good fengshui effect. Some people have a fishpond of koi fishes, others prefer a fountain in a strategic location.

Soothing Walls has something quite different.  They have a range of wall fountains which could also double as art pieces. Having one installed not only enhances the aesthetics of a home, it also makes the home a lot cooler with the constant flow of water.

Chinese Almanac - Good Day for a Wedding

The Chinese Almanac - once available in every traditional Chinese home is now hardly visible in the home.  This reference book is sort of a go-to source before the family embarks on a major activity such as a wedding, an engagement, house-moving, shop-opening, making a trip, prayer-altar cleaning, even going for a haircut.

For non-believers, this could be pure superstition but for those who believe, the Chinese community primarily, this is a way of life, part of Feng Shui as practised by the Chinese for thousands of years. A culture, if you will.

It is believed that executing something on an auspicious day can mean reaping positive results while doing something major on an inauspicious day can mean disaster as a consequence.

I came across Lilian Too's calendar of Good Days to Wed in 2013. They at WOFS (World of Feng Shui) have investigated the Tung Shu/Tung Sheng (Chinese Almanac) to identify the most auspicious days to get married, as well as unfavourable days which must to be avoided at all costs.

Below is sample for July. You can view the rest of the pre-calculated auspicious wedding days of the year on to Good Days To Wed on the WOFS website.

A 121212 Post - The 11th Lunar Month and beyond

Today is 12-12-12. A string of date/month/year numbers that will only come by again in a hundred years - definitely not in our lifetime. Are you doing anything memorable to commemorate this day or will you just let it go by like any other day?

We talked about turbulence and disasters in this (10th) lunar month - which is fast coming to an end. The new lunar month, the 11th, begins tomorrow, Dec 13. What does it hold for us in the 11th lunar month?  (At the same time, we are reminded of the Mayan calendar hinting of the end of the world on Dec 21.)

Read about what to expect in the 11th lunar month in the article below.  In it is also a link to individual horoscope readings for the forthcoming Black Water Snake Year in 2013. Not very positive news for most horoscopes, I'm afraid. Still, some things can be avoided, I think.

Here goes..

Hi friends,

The General Chinese Animal Horoscope for 2013 The Year of the Snake is HERE! Before you read the individual animal horoscopes, please ensure that you read the General Fortune for 2013 at the top of the page as it will affect everyone. CLICK HERE for details of the Chinese Horoscope 2013 Snake Year --> http://www.jmine.com.sg/chinese_horoscope2013.htm . While reading the individual animal horoscopes, bear in mind that the projections are according to the general analysis of the animal signs only. They are not personalized projections.

As we draw closer to the Chinese New Year, you might receive many suggestions from many sources regarding the 2013 yearly Feng Shui recommendations. Should you have done a Feng Shui review for your house or commercial premises(full layout) with me previously, please do not change your arrangement because the specific recommendations that have been given to you during your Feng Shui Review will override any recommendations that might be mentioned in the yearly Feng Shui recommendations.

If you are born in the year of Snake, Pig, Tiger, Monkey and Dragon, you will be in conflict with Tai Tsui in the 2013 Snake year. However, among all the animal signs, those who are born in the years of Ox and Goat will have the weakest luck.

The Chinese New Year for the Snake will be on 10 Feb 2013. If you have done the fortune reading or life analysis a year or more ago with me, the 12 months after session support will have expired. In order to continue enjoying the support, you might want to arrange for a reading. If you have not done a reading and are interested in doing a personalized fortune reading with me, you might want to arrange for one soon in order to be able to plan ahead, as there will be more instability in the coming year and there will be some matters which will take some time to achieve and you will want to tap on all the possible opportunities. The Chinese Horoscope 2013 is only for the general public and is not tailored to an individual's case.

What does the 10th lunar month hold for us?

How time flies. We are now in the 10th lunar month. What does it hold for us, for the world? Below is from an email from a feng shui expert that warrants reading and perhaps paying attention to. With war looming in the Middle-east, are we seeing the prediction coming true? Read on..

The 10th lunar month is from the 14th Nov to 12th Dec 2012. It will be quite a bad month. There will be severe natural disasters, illnesses and plagues together with other forms of trouble that will be elaborated upon later. Hence, it will be best to avoid traveling during this period of time so as not to be caught up in a fix in an unfamiliar environment.

There will be a lot of gossip, badmouthing, quarrels, disagreements and direct conflicts. This will affect individuals causing disharmony among family members, divorce and separation or severe office politics. There will also be conflicts between nations, people of different ethnicity and races. Ethnic and racial clashes and violence among groups of people with different ideologies will be more frequent resulting in more casualties. A great deal of undesirable publicity will seem to manifest itself easily. Even if you will be playing your part well, you might be easily sucked into the chaos and conflict. The impact will be so devastating leading one to lose jobs, business and even losing one’s life. It will be best to stay out of the limelight and maintain a low profile. During this period of time, there will be many who will try to take advantage of the situation by intercepting others job opportunities, making more money at the expense of others and toppling their competitors from power. The power reshuffles will seem to last while the money gained will not. This will be a great time for the big and powerful ones while the gentle and innocent people might have to put their safety belts on or take cover.

The majority of people will be open to creation and innovation. Leadership qualities will also be apparent. This will be a great time to lead, motivate and be an inspiration to others. There will also be some people who might be likely to cross the line and become stubborn, opinionated, and over-confident. This group of people might end up taking things for granted, make bad plans and in so doing repulse others who might be able help them and even walk away from solutions. The damage that this group of people will face might be many times greater than at other periods of time and might include financial losses, lost opportunities, loss of jobs and power or being stuck in a situation like cat chasing it’s tail.. However, some people’s loss will be others’ gain. As such, there will be a group of people laughing all the way to the bank by pocketing all the opportunities and benefits.

The other potential problem relates to documentation or commentary errors. Mistakes in a contract or agreement might result in large penalties and even leading to legal problems. Our focus will be weaker than at other times. Hence, if you need to handle contractual matters or sign documents, you will need to be very careful to ensure that the details are correct. Where the documentation is prepared by others, ensure that you have gone through the details thoroughly before endorsing it. If you feel tired, it will be best to request for more time to examine thoroughly through the documentation instead of doing shoddy work. This month will be unfavourable for learning and engaging in complex planning.

For those who need to cleanse their crystals or have been using their crystals actively, you might want to use the moonlight of the 29th Nov 2012 to do so.

Feng Shui or not.. Year of the Dragon

If Feng Shui predictions are to be believed, are we seeing the predictions beginning to materialise so soon in the new year of the Dragon?
Latest Earthquakes in the World - Past 7 days
Source - earthquake.usgu.gov

This year's Feng Shui Bazi Chart and Flying Star Chart indicate afflictions primarily in the South-east sector due to flooding as indicated by the predominant water and wood elements in the Bazi Chart for the Year of the Dragon. The Year of the Dragon began on Jan 23 2012 lasting until Feb 9 2013.

According to the Flying Star Chart, the countries potentially affected by the negativity would be the Asean region and Australia. The affliction would most probably be centered on floods including landslides, tsunamis, and so forth.

Let's look at the current scenario. Heavy rainfall has caused serious flooding affecting areas of Queensland in Australia, the danger area being St George (coincidentally in south-east Queensland). ST GEORGE'S mayor says mandatory evacuations are running smoothly as the town braces for record flooding.

Series of incidents so far:

This morning, Saturday, Strong tremors were felt in Tokyo as 4.7 quake jolts Ibaraki The Star reported that it jolted Japan's Ibaraki Prefecture in Kanto region at around 10:27am local time (0127 GMT) according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The epicenter was initially determined at 36.1 degrees north latitude, 139.8 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 50 km, Xinhua news agency reported quoting the JMA.

Strong tremors were also felt in Tokyo. There is no immediate reports of damage.

Yesterday,

Yesterday (Friday), the Lokon volcano in North Sulawesi erupted according to the Indonesian Centre for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation.

A rumbling sound followed by the spewing of thick ash some 2,000m into the sky heralded the eruption at 8.20am, it said.

People living in the vicinity of Mt Lokon have been advised to keep at least 2.5km away from the Tompaluan crater.

Mt Lokon, 1,580m high, is located near the town of Tomohon, about 20km southwest of Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi. - Bernama

The same morning in Fiji, a strong earthquake, measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale, hit the Fiji Islands region Friday, the Malaysian Meteorological Department reported.

The epicentre of the quake, which occurred at 9.48am, was 22km north of Laucala, Fiji, and 7,028km southeast of Semporna, Sabah, it said in a statement.

And in the afternoon at 1.34pm, a 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Irian Jaya in Indonesia, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said. The epicentre of the quake was located 173km northeast of Sorong in Indonesia and 1,669km southeast of Semporna in Sabah.

On Monday, in The Philippines, a magnitude 6.7 quake struck near Tayasan town on central Negros island, damaging bridges, highways, some public buildings, and toppling power and communications lines. Churches and houses were also destroyed. The death toll from landslides has risen to 35 and scores of missing are feared dead as rains and aftershocks hamper rescue efforts, disaster officials said on Friday.

More than 1,400 aftershocks had been recorded since Monday, making it difficult for rescuers to search for survivors due to unstable ground and softened by several days of rains.

As for Malaysia and Singapore, the two countries have a better Bazi this year hence, we will not be having much excitement in the form of natural disasters. Keeping fingers crossed though.

Also, things will be looking up for the U.S. this year, the U.S. being in the Wealth Star (Star #8). A better economy ahead according to the reading. For your reference is the Flying Star Chart borrowed from Foong PC's blog.

Whether we believe in Feng Shui or not is immaterial. Nature will take its course regardless. The ability to interpret the Bazi Chart and Flying Star Chart provides a way to have an idea of what lies ahead.

If you are interested to know more about Feng Shui for this year, head on over to Foong PC's blog. He attended both Lilian Too's January 1 talk as well as the English and Cantonese sessions conducted by classical Feng Shui master, Joey Yap. All sessions were held at the Plenary Hall of the KL Convention Center (KLCC) in Kuala Lumpur.

Auspicious days to start work 2012 - Year of the Dragon

For those who believe in reaping the good fengshui to start the new year and to ensure good vibes throughout the year, below is a chart of the Auspicious or best days to start work during or after the Chinese New Year. (Click on image to enlarge.)
As for the Auspicious color to wear 2012 or rather in the new year, it is RED.

The Year of the Water Dragon will not have the Fire element in the fengshui Bazi Chart so red is needed to provide that fire to balance out the forces of the elements in which there are five: Earth, Metal, Water, Wood and Fire.

For a year to be a good year, the Bazi Chart must have all the five elements present. Fire is missing next year. To take a pitch from Fengshui Master, Lilian Too, through Foong's post..

Since fire is missing from the chart, Lillian Too suggested that we counter it by wearing more red colour (red indicates fire) clothes this year and switching on the lights and keeping our houses bright. Do not wear black, unless you match it with something bright and for the ladies, do not carry black wallets.

So yes, the best colour for 2012 is red. Red curtains and red cushions are good. Taking it one step further - why not paint your house and car red too? LOL!

Foong who attended Lilian Too's Fengshui talk in January 1, has some great tips on the do's and dont's for next year and an easy-to-understand explanation of the Bazi Chart. Also shared are what events that Lilian Too sees from the Bazi Chart. Interesting stuff! Visit Foong's blog to find out and for Fengshui tips for the Year of the Dragon.

Decluttering is a good habit

When was the last time you decluttered your closet? It's a good habit to declutter the closet on a regular basis or at least once a year. It's good commonsense to have an uncluttered home environment. It's good feng shui too for the home and occupants.

Decluttering lets you free up closet space by getting rid of clothes that don't fit anymore or those you won't be wearing anymore. It reduces the mess and creates space for new clothes. Tongue-in-cheek, the latter.

Recently, a colleague gave away some almost-new golf shirts. They were quickly snapped up. If he is into riding, his equestrian clothes would go the same way just as fast, I am sure. It is always good to give away clothes one no longer requires. Just make sure, they are still wearable.

Feng Shui your business card

A friend who runs a business recently asked if I have any contact for a business cards printing service.

She's looking into changing the design of her business card to incorporate some feng shui principles.

You read right. Business cards these days are designed along feng shui lines so as to increase business and profits. I read that it really works thus the popularity of the concept. Is your business card feng shui'd?

How to Choose the Right Office Chair

If you have a say in choosing office furniture, what single piece of furniture would you pay most attention to? I hope you're going to answer 'the chair'. Why?, you may ask.

You don't have to believe this but according to a Feng Shui article I read on Lilian Too's website, it says that the chair you sit on at work does have a bearing on how well you do in your career. Chairs should be designed to minimise aches and strains, allowing you to sit at length without getting tired or uncomfortable.

The article goes on to say that chairs meant for visitors on the other hand do not need to be overly comfy, lest they overstay their welcome! When picking sofa sets and settees for meeting areas, go with something not too comfy, for the same reasons. Harder sofa sets also generate a more dynamic type of chi energy more suited to the workplace.

Now you know, so choose the right chair for yourself.

Good Lighting Brings Good Chi

At the hairdresser's the other day, I picked up the latest copy of Lilian Too's magazine. Though I did not have the chance to finish the entire magazine, I managed to read a few good articles about dreams and beliefs, 2009 being a good year for Rabbit people, apartment-living, what to do for Period 8 (for twenty years after Feb 4, 2004) to improve your life, health and wealth and a few others. Also, 2009 is a year of weak earth and strong water. Should we expect more landslides and such?

Some people do not believe in feng shui but I believe there is truth in this science. Just don't go overboard. This again is subjective. Everything in moderation, I say. By the way, lighting plays an important role in feng shui. A space must be adequately lit to invite good chi. Now you know.

Faucets in Feng Shui

Not everyone believe in Feng Shui. But really, there is nothing to believe or not to believe, as Feng Shui principles are in part based on practicality. We are actually practising the principles without even knowing it.

For instance, clutter in Feng Shui is discouraged as it stagnates the 'chi' or energy in a space. Even if one does not believe in Feng Shui, clutter is also discouraged in one's living or work area for practical reasons.

Another example is a leaking faucet. In Feng Shui, a leaking faucet is a sign of the inclination of wasting money or losing wealth slowly but surely. As a norm, we would get a leaking faucet fixed so that water is not wasted nor the dripping of water become disturbing which could disturb the peace.

A Feng Shui Tip

If you believe in Feng Shui, here's something that will be worth your while. An action you take this Monday, Feb 4, will have a bearing on your finances throughout the entire Year of the Rat.

If you have a checking account, write yourself a cheque and bank it in on Monday. It has to be this Monday. This tip comes from a renowned Feng Shui master.
