Wedding Bells are Ringing

After the busy first month of the Lunar calendar, weddings are coming back into the routine. The second lunar month is a good month for weddings along with a few other auspicious months of the year for the Chinese community.

Over the weekend, I saw a number of wedding entourages. Though Spring may be in the air in the northern hemisphere, over here, it's wedding bells are ringing again. Being so, jewellers and goldsmith shops here would have new stocks of wedding bands and other jewellery. One would have more choices if one is looking for a diamond engagement ring or a wedding band, for instance.

Gemstone Jewelry Gaining Popularity

Diamonds may be a girl's best friend but of late, coloured gemstones are gaining popularity.


Two friends and I were at the jewellers the other day and there was this couple who were looking over some ruby jewelry and ruby rings for their forthcoming engagement. As the lady's birthday is in September, they were also shown some sapphire jewelry and sapphire rings, sapphire being the birthstone for September. Since they were already there, they also asked to see other gemstone jewelry such as emerald jewelry and emerald rings
and others including amethyst, opal, pink sapphire, topaz, onyx, aquamarine, garnet, all finely-crafted into various pieces of beautiful jewelry.
