America's Smartest Cities—From First to Worst

Which metropolis has the most intelligent residents? Sorry, we are talking just about the U.S. The Daily Beast ranked the major American cities using two criteria: education level and intellectual environment.

Only 55 cities made the list based on metropolitan areas (the cities and their suburbs) of 1 million people or more, using Census data, with the definition of each greater metropolitan area defined by Nielsen.

The winner is Raleigh-Durham. The loser is Fresno. But what falls between?

Below are the top five. How did your hometown rank?

The criteria.

Raleigh-Durham

San Jose

Boston

Minneapolis

Denver

Can they conduct something like this in the Malaysian context? Probably too small scale to do one for M'sia.

  4. KS, I think the criteria is more for academics-smart. You may want to read the criteria again.

Mei Teng, I thought about that too. We probably are too small to be bothered with. Still, it would be interesting to know, eh?

Tekkaus, there is no one single thing that pleases everyone, right? Someone's bound to get hurt any which way.

No survey is perfect. This one is just based on a certain criteria.
