Of Facebook and Google

This is clearly a case of nothing is good or bad, it is the usage that makes it so, or something like that.

Facebook used for cyber-bullying? Yikes!!

School suspends 29 pupils for insulting teacher on Facebook
- A leading London girls' school has suspended 29 pupils for posting malicious comments about a teacher on Facebook.

Since we are on the subject of Internet application, here is something interesting too.

IF you want to help save the planet from carbon carnage, cut your Google searches, scientists say. Performing two Google searches from a desktop computer can generate about the same amount of carbon dioxide as boiling a kettle for a cup of tea, according to new research.

I suppose it applies to other search engines too, for that matter.

Continue reading Google searches are costly to the environment, experts say

  1. Google's servers are powerful, so they yield search results in very short time, but also generate more comparatively more heat.

That said, there are a lot of things we do that generate CO2. Do you drive?

I have said this many times and will repeat here: The best way to save the planet is to slow down the population growth.

Environmentalists, or their wives, please undergo permanent contraception surgery!

  2. ..there are a lot of things we do that generate CO2.

    I agree, even eating beef.

Slowing down population growth? And to think that China is planning or already approved for a two-children family. The whole world has to come together on this issue, not only environmentalists, or we will see more severe food shortages.

  3. 2 searches=1 kettle of boiled water???

Ouh my Gog! For real? Meaning that Google is contributing to the earth pollution huh?

  4. T, surprising, eh? But I don't think it will make any difference. People will still be using Google.
